Background: Superior canal dehiscence syndrome (Minor's syndrome) is a condition characterized by a bony defect in the superior semicircular canal (SSCC), with treatment primarily being surgical, notably through plugging of SSCC.
Aims/objectives: To examine the clinical outcome and postoperative VHIT findings after transmastoid plugging of the SSCC.
Materials And Methods: Patients having a superior semicircular canal dehiscence (SSCCD) syndrome with debilitating symptoms who underwent a plugging of the SSCC a transmastoid approach were included.

Objectives: This study aimed to identify factors predicting postoperative ICU admission, the need for orotracheal intubation (OTI), and the occurrence of supraglottic stenosis in children undergoing supraglottoplasty for laryngomalacia.
Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on 31 children (Dear Reviewer, we would have greatly preferred to include a larger sample size. However, as you know, this type of management is rare, and we deliberately selected a 7-year period to ensure a minimum of 30 children while avoiding significant differences in management guidelines over time.
The Black Country (BC) is an area of the United Kingdom covering Dudley, Sandwell, Walsall, and Wolverhampton. The area is ethnically, culturally and religiously diverse. One-fifth of the total population is in the lowest socioeconomic quintile, with an uneven distribution of wealth.

This study therefore aimed at determining the acute after-effects of 30-min LV of the flexor carpi radialis muscle (FCR) on sensorimotor (S1, M1) and posterior parietal cortex (PPC) areas activity.

Method: Here we approach this question using an interpersonal sensorimotor synchronization paradigm to test whether the quality of a jointly created chord (consonant vs.
Background: Strategies to promote workplace mental health can target system, organization, team, and individual levels exclusively or in concert with each other. Creating toolkits that include these different levels is an emerging innovative strategy to support employees working in various sectors. Our paper describes the development, implementation, and refinement of two different online toolkits: the Healthy Professional Worker Toolkit for Education Workers and the Health Worker Burnout Toolkit.

Canada has been unique in the modern era for limiting midwives from providing sexual health and perinatal care to families. Prohibitions on midwifery practice were finally lifted in Prince Edward Island in 2024, yet midwives' scope of practice continues to be restricted in most jurisdictions. The Canadian Midwifery Regulators Council recently recommended midwives should be able to practice their full scope.

Auditory beats stimulation (ABS) has received increased attention for its potential to modulate neural oscillations through a phenomenon described as brain entrainment (i.e synchronization of brain's electrocortical activity to external stimuli at a specific frequency). Recently, a new form of ABS has emerged, inspired by isochronic tones stimulation (IT).

Recent studies shedding light on AIS function used predominantly post-hoc approaches since no robust murine live reporters exist. Here, we introduce a reporter line in which the AIS is intrinsically labeled by an ankyrin-G-GFP fusion protein activated by Cre recombinase, tagging the native gene.

On each of the 100 farms in France visited for the study, 10 blood samples were taken from pigs at the end of fattening (at least 22 weeks old) and 20 to 30 faecal samples were taken, depending on the category of animals present on the farm (10 sows, 10 piglets aged 10 to 12 weeks and 10 pigs at the end of fattening, aged at least 22 weeks). A SERASCA® ELISA test (Laboratory of Parasitology, Ghent University) was performed on each blood sample (cut-off 0.

Methods: Retrospective single-center evaluation of 311 VCUG performed in male patients under 12 years of age. Two study groups were built based on the bladder access method.
Romantic relationships are an important part of our social identities and well-being. In this paper, we report on qualitative findings with thirty Canadian couples, interviewed together, where it was known that one or both partners sell sexual services for a living. We asked a series of open-ended questions related to the background of the couple's relationship, their day-to-day interactions and work-related stressors.

These abilities are modulated by musical training and vary significantly in untrained individuals. The causes of this variability are multidimensional and typically hard to grasp in single tasks.

Inositol polyphosphate-5-phosphatase D (INPP5D/SHIP1) is a myeloid-expressed gene genetically-associated with AD. Through unbiased analyses of RNA and protein profiles in INPP5D-disrupted iPSC-derived human microglia, we find that reduction in INPP5D activity is associated with molecular profiles consistent with disrupted autophagy and inflammasome activation.

To interrogate the roles of SORL1 in human brain cells, SORL1-null induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) were differentiated to neuron, astrocyte, microglial, and endothelial cell fates. Loss of SORL1 leads to alterations in both overlapping and distinct pathways across cell types, with the greatest effects in neurons and astrocytes.

During the past two decades, a major effort has been made to identify the neural correlates of consciousness, but in comparison, little is known about the physiological mechanisms underlying first-person subjective experience. Attention is considered the gateway of information to consciousness.

To interrogate the role(s) of SORL1 in human brain cells, SORL1 null iPSCs were generated, followed by differentiation to neuron, astrocyte, microglia, and endothelial cell fates. Loss of SORL1 led to alterations in both overlapping and distinct pathways across cell types, with the greatest effects in neurons and astrocytes.

Background: Lower-risk substance use guidelines (LRSUGs) are an evidence-based harm reduction strategy used to provide information to people who use drugs so they can reduce harms associated with substance use.
Objectives: This study aimed to identify LRSUGs accessible to youth and to characterize the recommendations within these guidelines. The overall goal is to identify gaps in current LRSUGs and to inform researchers and policymakers of the kinds of health information youth can access.
Background: The scheduling of clinical rehabilitative exercise should combine best possible delivery of exercise with the most efficient use of time, facilities, equipment, and personnel. However, it is not clear whether distribution of a fixed amount of exercise volume is more efficient over a longer time period in a week (distributed manner) than over a shorter time period in a week (massed manner).
Objective: To evaluate the effects of distributed versus massed within- and between-session exercise scheduling on balance, exercise performance, and pain perception in middle-aged women with knee pain.
