Purpose: To identify, synthesise, and critically appraise findings of systematic reviews and/or meta-analyses on hip preservation surgeries for borderline and/or frank dysplasia with or without concomitant femoroacetabular impingement (FAI).
Methods: A search, following the PRISMA guidelines, was conducted using Medline and Embase on 19/04/2023. Findings extracted from eligible studies were tabulated and synthesised.
Purpose: Though numerous studies highlighted benefits of ambulatory total joint arthroplasty (TJA), most had selected patients with age and comorbidities thresholds. We aimed to report proportions of unselected TJAs that could be scheduled for and operated in ambulatory settings, and to determine factors that hinder same-day discharge (SDD).
Methods: We studied 1100 consecutive primary TJAs (644 THAs and 456 TKAs) that were prepared following a multidisciplinary protocol for patient education and logistical preparation.
Surgical treatment of lateral femoral cutaneous neuropathy (LFCN) is performed only after failure of conservative management. We reexamined 167 cases (7 bilateral) of LFCN of various etiologies (idiopathic, abdominal surgery, iliac crest bone grafting, trauma, and total hip arthroplasty) operated on between 1987 and 2003. Average follow-up was 98 months (20-212).
