A number of studies have been demonstrated that arachidonate 5-lipoxygenase (ALOX-5) plays a role in regulating a range of physiological and pathological processes through the catalysis of leukotriene formation from arachidonic acid (ARA). The coding sequence of ALOX-5 from Apostichopus japonicus (Aj-ALOX-5) was successfully amplified, resulting in a 2028 bp ORF sequence that encodes 674 amino acids. A comparison of the amino acid sequence with those of other 5-lipoxygenases revealed that Aj-ALOX-5 has the N-terminal "PLAT domain" and C-terminal "lipoxygenase structural domain" characteristic of this enzyme family.

High performance -GaN/oxide layer/-GaN ultraviolet (UV) photodetector was fabricated in this paper. The UV detector composed of -GaN and -GaN film with oxide layer which was constructed by directly contacting way. The detector based on GaN -GaN/oxide layer/-GaN structure showed high UV response with fast speed.

Because of their perfect geometrical symmetry, spherical metal nanoparticles have attracted much attention for various applications, including fundamental studies and construction of plasmonic devices. In this work, monodisperse silver nanospheres (Ag NSs) in aqueous solution were directly prepared by a continuous process of seed-mediated growth followed by oxidative etching. Silver nanocubes (Ag NCs) were synthesized by a seed-mediated growth method and subsequently were transformed to Ag NSs by simple injection of Cu to the freshly prepared Ag NCs solution.

The ultrafast transfer of plasmon-induced hot electrons is considered an effective kinetics process to enhance the photoconversion efficiencies of semiconductors through strong localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) of plasmonic nanostructures. Although this classical sensitization approach is widely used in noble-metal-semiconductor systems, it remains unclear in nonmetallic plasmonic heterostructures. Here, by combining ultrafast transient absorption spectroscopy with theoretical simulations, IR-driven transfer of plasmon-induced hot electron in a nonmetallic branched heterostructure is demonstrated, which is fabricated through solvothermal growth of plasmonic W O nanowires (as branches) onto TiO electrospun nanofibers (as backbones).

Lysozyme is a very important component of the innate immune system and a key molecule that protects against bacterial infection. Sea cucumber i-type lysozyme (Aj-iLys) has been shown to possess multiple functions. In this study, we investigated the function and characterization of Aj-iLys in detail.

The two- and three-photon detachment of negative silver ions in a femtosecond infrared laser field is studied using photoelectron velocity map imaging methods. Photoelectron angular distributions (PADs) are obtained for these detachment channels; these PADs change dramatically when the laser wavelength and intensity are changed. Theoretical predictions, which are based on the adiabatic Keldysh-Faisal-Reiss saddle point method, are in good agreement with our experiment.

The photoionization dynamics of pyrrole are investigated by using a photoelectron imaging method and a tunable femtosecond laser. Two-photon nonresonant ionization experiments in the wavelength range from 261 to 298 nm indicate that the cation and neutral ground states have similar structures. The main vibrational excitation in the cation ground state is the v(8) mode.

Although the photodissociation of nitroaromatics in low excitation electronic states has been extensively studied in recent decades, little is known about the highly excited electronic states. The fragmentation dynamics of three nitroaromatics, nitrobenzene, o-nitrotoluene, and m-nitrotoluene, in highly excited states, populated by the absorption of two photons at 271 nm, are studied with time-of-flight mass spectrometry. The temporal evolutions of the highly excited states are monitored by one-photon ionization at 408 nm.
