Background: Acute kidney injury (AKI) is a common complication after liver transplantation (LT), but the specific impact of rapidly resolving AKI is not elucidated. This study investigates the factors associated with early recovery from AKI and its association with post-LT outcomes.
Methods: Retrospective analysis of 441 liver transplant recipients with end-stage liver disease without pretransplant renal impairment.
Background: Extended-spectrum β-lactamase-producing Enterobacteriaceae (ESBL-E) carriage is frequent among liver transplant (LT) recipients, thereby fostering a large empirical carbapenem prescription. However, ESBL-E infections occur in only 10%-25% of critically ill patients with rectal colonization. Our aim was to identify risk factors for post-LT ESBL-E infection in colonized patients.

We assessed the accuracy of procalcitonin (PCT) in diagnosing aspiration pneumonia (AP) in intensive care unit (ICU) patients requiring mechanical ventilation after out-of-hospital coma.
Methods: Prospective observational 2-year cohort study in a medical-surgical ICU.
Simulation in healthcare is directly inspired by high-risk industries such as the aeronautical industry. The recent rapid growth in its use in healthcare is explained by the need to improve the quality and safety of care. It must go hand in hand with the development of a real safety culture.
