[Influence of dithranol therapy on clinical status and serum calcitonin concentrations in patients with common psoriasis].

The aim of this work was to study the effects of external dithranol therapy of psoriatic patients on the clinical status and serum calcitonin concentrations. This was done on 19 patients with common psoriasis using Cignoderm in the short contact therapy. Calcitonin concentration in serum samples was determined before and after a 14-day therapy.

[Laser's biostimulation in healing or crural ulcerations].

The objective of this paper was to evaluate effect of laser's biostimulation on the process of healing of crural ulcerations. Three comparative groups of patients, A, B and C, were made at random from the patients with venous crural ulcerations. The group A consisted of 17, the group B 15, the group C 17 patients.

[High voltage electrical stimulation in leg ulcer's treatment].

The results of leg ulcers treatment in two comparative groups, A and B, are presented in the article. In the group A 22 patients with leg ulcers were treated with the use of high voltage electrical stimulation. In the group B 20 patients with leg ulcers were treated actively with the use of traditional methods.

[Calcitonin levels in the serum of psoriatic patients].

In this study the serum calcitonin concentrations were assessed in patients with Psoriasis vulgaris. The results were compared with healthy volunteers. The serum calcitonin levels of psoriatic patients was significantly increased than in healthy volunteers.

[Changes in the sodium, potassium and lithium ion concentration in human epidermis in relation to death].

The concentrations of Na+, K+, Li+ have been assayed in the epidermis samples from 58 cadavers and 20 healthy individuals. The samples have been taken from the heels, and assayed with 2 flame photometers (Corning 480), using standard solutions supplied by the manufacturer. A concentration of Na+ and K+ in men exceeded the levels of these ions in women by two-fold.

[A case of porphyria cutanea tarda in an 11-year-old boy].

A rare case of porphyria cutanea tarda (PCT) in an 11-year-old boy is presented. The clinical manifestations were typical. Results of porphyrin analyses of urine and serum with a fluorescence emission maximum around 398 nm revealed a pattern consistent with PCT.

[Use of Nd:YAG laser for treatment of basal-cell carcinomas and some premalignant conditions].

In 51 patients, 29 female and 22 male of average 61 years old, 94 lesions were treated with Nd: YAG laser; 70 basal-cell carcinomas, 9 superficial basal-cell carcinomas, 12 actinic keratosis and 3 cutaneous horns. Size of changes varied from 7 to 24 mm. Quantity of energy used in laser-therapy was dependent on diagnosis, focus size, location and amounted from 50 to 240 J/cm2.
