Dynamically interconvertible metallo-supramolecular multicomponent assemblies, coexisting orthogonally in solution, serve as simplified mimics for complex networks found in biological systems. Building on recent advances in controlling the nonstatistical self-assembly of heteroleptic coordination cages and heteromeric completive self-sorting, i.e.

Introduction: The management of pediatric inflammatory bowel disease (PIBD) has drastically changed in the last decade. The limited availability of new biologics or small molecule therapies, and concerns about durability in children has necessitated the development of other advances in management to optimize care.
Areas Covered: This review covers guidance for management targets and advances in optimizing biologic therapies, new medical therapies, adjuvant therapies, precision medicine and mental health concerns in PIBD.
Here, we report the synthesis of a family of chiral ZnL tetrahedral cages by subcomponent self-assembly. These cages contain a flexible trialdehyde subcomponent that allows them to adopt stereochemically distinct configurations. The incorporation of enantiopure 1-phenylethylamine produced Δ and Λ enantiopure cages, in contrast to the racemates that resulted from the incorporation of achiral 4-methoxyaniline.

We studied the association between standard body weight (BW)-based and body surface area (BSA)-based dosing strategies and outcomes.
Methods: We identified VEO-IBD patients treated with IFX before 9 years at a single center.
Introduction: To study digestive system cancer risks in individuals with inflammatory bowel diseases (IBDs) in the biologic era.
Methods: We used population-level administrative and cancer registry data from Ontario, Canada, (1994-2020) to compare people with IBD to matched controls (1:10 by sex and birth year) on trends in age-sex standardized cancer incidence and risk ratios of incident cancers and cancer-related deaths.
Results: Among 110,919 people with IBD and 1,109,190 controls, colorectal cancer incidence (per 100,000 person-years) declined similarly in people with ulcerative colitis (average annual percentage change [AAPC] -1.
Molecular building blocks, capable of adopting several strongly deviating conformations, are of particular interest in the development of stimuli-responsive self-assemblies. The pronounced structural flexibility of a short acridone-based bridging ligand, equipped with two monodentate isoquinoline donors, is herein exploited to assemble a surprisingly diverse series of coordination-driven Pd(II) architectures. First, it can form a highly twisted PdL helicate, transformable into the corresponding mesocate, controlled by temperature, counter anion and choice of solvent.

Among individuals with IBD, we assessed whether COVID-19 vaccines were associated with serious adverse events of special interest (AESI) and health care utilization [all-cause hospitalizations, Emergency Department (ED) visits, gastroenterology visits, IBD-related visits].
Methods: Using comprehensive administrative health data from Ontario, Canada, adults with IBD who received at least one COVID-19 vaccine from December 2020-January 2022 were included.
Objective: To explore the mental health experiences of adolescents and young adults (AYA) with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) enrolled in a randomized controlled trial evaluating the impact of a multimodal transition intervention.
Study Design: Virtual semistructured interviews were held with 21 AYA aged 16 through 18 years with IBD. Guided by qualitative description, interviews were digitally recorded, transcribed verbatim, and analyzed using an inductive approach to reflexive thematic analysis.
Background: Patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) exhibit considerable interindividual variability in medication response, highlighting the need for precision medicine approaches to optimize and tailor treatment. Pharmacogenetics (PGx) offers the ability to individualize dosing by examining genetic factors underlying the metabolism of medications such as thiopurines. Pharmacogenetic testing can identify individuals who may be at risk for thiopurine dose-dependent adverse reactions including myelosuppression.

RWD studies often rely on algorithms to operationalize variable definitions. An algorithm is a combination of codes or concepts used to identify persons with a specific health condition or characteristic.

We compared the odds of cesarean delivery among primiparous individuals with IBD versus without, overall, and by disease characteristics, as well as time to subsequent delivery.
Methods: Retrospective matched population-based cohort study between 1 April 1994 and 31 March 2020.
Objectives: Health administrative data can be used to improve the health of people who inject drugs by informing public health surveillance and program planning, monitoring, and evaluation. However, methodological gaps in the use of these data persist due to challenges in accurately identifying injection drug use (IDU) at the population level. In this study, we validated case-ascertainment algorithms for identifying people who inject drugs using health administrative data in Ontario, Canada.

Based on the latter approach, we here describe a new level of self-sorting in coordination cage systems, namely, 'heteromeric completive self-sorting'. Here, two heteroleptic assemblies of type PdAB and PdAC, sharing one common ligand component A but differing in the other, are shown to coexist in solution.

We described variation in health services utilization and need for surgery among children with IBD between six and 60 months following IBD diagnosis across Canadian pediatric centers and evaluated the associations between care provided at diagnosis at each center and the variation in these outcomes.
Patients And Methods: Using population-based deterministically-linked health administrative data from four Canadian provinces (Alberta, Manitoba, Nova Scotia, Ontario) we identified children diagnosed with IBD <16 years of age using validated algorithms.
Background: Patterns of health services utilization among children with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) are important to understand as the number of children with IBD continues to increase. We compared health services utilization and surgery among children diagnosed <10 years of age (Paris classification: A1a) and between 10 and <16 years of age (A1b).
Methods: Incident cases of IBD diagnosed <16 years of age were identified using validated algorithms from deterministically linked health administrative data in 5 Canadian provinces (Alberta, Manitoba, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Quebec) to conduct a retrospective cohort study.
Self-assembled hosts, inspired by biological receptors and catalysts, show application potential in sustainable synthesis, energy conversion and medicine. Implementing multiple functionalities in the form of distinguishable building blocks, however, is difficult without risking narcissistic self-sorting or a statistical mess. Here we report a systematic series of integratively self-assembled heteroleptic cages in which two square-planar Pd cations are bridged by four different bis-pyridyl ligands, A, B, C and D, via synergistic effects to exclusively form a single isomer-the lantern-shaped cage [PdABCD].

Supramolecular chemistry has embraced the widespread integration of photoswitches because of their precise spatiotemporal addressability and waste-free nature. In the vibrant area of discrete metal-mediated self-assembly, however, photoswitches are still rarely employed.

Objective: To determine if individuals with IMIDs are at higher risk of VTE following COVID-19 infection compared with individuals without IMIDs.
Design, Setting, And Participants: Population-based matched cohort study using multiple deterministically linked health administrative databases from Ontario, Canada, and including patients testing positive for COVID-19 between January 1, 2020, and December 30, 2021, and followed up until March 31, 2022.
