Background: Several methods have been proposed to assess outcome of bone-grafted alveolar clefts on cone beam computed tomography (CBCT), but so far these methods have not been compared and clinically validated.
Objectives: To validate and compare methods for outcome assessment of bone-grafted clefts with CBCT and provide recommendations for follow-up.
Methods: In this observational follow-up study, two grading scales (Suomalainen; Liu) and the volumetric bone fill (BF) were used to assess the outcome of 23 autogenous bone-grafted unilateral alveolar clefts.

Introduction And Objective: Radiographic evaluation of the maturity of mandibular third molars is a common method used for age estimation of adolescents and young adults. The aim of this systematic review was to examine the scientific base for the relationship between a fully matured mandibular third molar based on Demirjian's method and chronological age, in order to assess whether an individual is above or below the age of 18 years.
Methods: The literature search was conducted in six databases until February 2022 for studies reporting data evaluating the tooth maturity using Demirjian´s method (specifically stage H) within populations ranging from 8 to 30 years (chronological age).
Background: Children born with an alveolar cleft receive bone grafts for improved function and aesthetics. The cleft area is examined radiologically before and after bone graft. Optimizing radiographic examination protocols is essential to protect these patients from possible delayed radiation injury later in life.

Objective: To investigate how cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) affects the therapeutic planning of impacted maxillary canines.
Study Design: A total of 132 impacted canines from 89 pediatric patients were collected from 3 specialist clinics in Stockholm, Sweden. An interdisciplinary therapy planning team consisting of 5 dental specialists evaluated each case and chose their preferred treatment alternative, initially without and later with CBCT images, to decide whether CBCT was justified for therapy planning.
Objectives: The present study aims to describe the relationship between upper first molar roots and maxillary sinus, for the first time with a truly three-dimensional approach.
Methods: From a retrospective cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) sample of the upper jaw, a total of 105 upper first molars in contact with maxillary sinus from 74 patients (male 24, female 50, mean age 42) were included in the present study. Objectives: To evaluate overall image quality and visibility of anatomic structures on low-dose cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) scans and the effect of a noise reduction filter for assessment of the anterior maxilla.
Methods: We obtained 48 CBCT volumes on 8 skull-phantoms using 6 protocols: 2 clinical default protocols [standard definition (SD) and high definition (HD)] and 4 low-dose protocols, 2 with a noise reduction filter [ultra-low-dose with high definition (ULDHD) and ultra-low-dose (ULD)] and 2 without [low-dose with high definition (LDHD) and low-dose (LD)]. Overall image quality and visibility of 8 anatomic structures were assessed by 5 observers and statistically analyzed using the Wilcoxon signed rank test.
Objective: To determine whether sarcopenia can potentially predict worse survival after resection of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma.
Background: Sarcopenia is correlated with poor outcomes in hepatopancreatobiliary malignancies, but the relationship of both its qualitative and quantitative features with patient survival after pancreatectomy has not been investigated in a western population.

Our aim was to evaluate the morbidity and survival associated with combined cytoreductive surgery and hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) in the treatment of recurrent ovarian cancer for patients aged 70 years and older. We conducted a monocentric study in a French university hospital and collected data on 15 women aged ≥ 70 years, treated by cytoreduction and HIPEC for ovarian cancer relapse.
