Background: Previously, a lexicon and protocol for quantitative descriptive analysis (QDA) was established for the Uganda sweetpotato breeding program. The implication of QDA scores for priority sensory attributes on consumer preference should be determined to interpret results efficiently and make decisions effectively. The present study aimed to develop a gender-responsive decision tree to obtain an overall sweetpotato eating quality score to facilitate demand-led targeted breeding selection.

Case Report: We report a 47-year-old man, with no prior history, who presented a recurrent aseptic lymphocytic meningitis with central nervous manifestations. The presence of a monoclonal lymphoplasmacytic proliferation in cerebrospinal fluid, blood and bone marrow biopsy results was compatible with a diagnosis of Bing-Neel syndrome.
Composting is used all over the world to transform different types of organic matter through the actions of complex microbial communities. Moving and handling composting material may lead to the emission of high concentrations of bioaerosols. High exposure levels are associated with adverse health effects among compost industry workers.

In a first experiment, 14 subjects evaluated the quality of images degraded by 0.05, 0.

Setting: Laboratoire Aimé Cotton, Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique, and Université Paris-Sud, Orsay, France.
Design: Evaluation of technology.
We optimize the subjective depth of focus (DoF) with combinations of spherical aberration (SA4) and secondary spherical aberration (SA6) in various levels. Subjective DoF was defined as the visual interval for which three 20/50 high-contrast letters was perceived acceptable (objectionable blur limits). We used an adaptive optics system to dynamically correct the observer's aberrations and control their accommodation.

Setting: Laboratoire Aimé Cotton, Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique, Université Paris-Sud, Orsay, France.
Design: Case series.
We measured high-contrast visual acuity (VA) and 12c/deg contrast sensitivity (CS) through-focus functions (TFF) of four eyes of four cyclopleged subjects in three conditions: naked eye, with a center-distance and center-near Proclear(R) multifocal addition 2D contact lens. In all conditions, an adaptive optics system statically compensated the astigmatism of the subject's eye alone. Multifocal contact lenses enlarged the width of the curve of through-focus visual performance but reduced the peak performance.

Methods: Monocular 10 cycles/degree (cpd) and 25 cpd CS and high- and low-contrast VA were measured when introducing individual Zernike aberrations in four patients dynamically corrected using a CRX1 adaptive optics system (Imagine Eyes) and a 5.5-mm pupil.
In a multicentre open prospective trial the effectiveness of AM-CA as first-line treatment of community-acquired lung abscess was evaluated in immunocompetent adult patients. AM-CA was administered intravenously in doses of 4 g/day for at least 7 days, then orally in doses of 2 g/day for at least 14 days. Radio-clinical and laboratory evaluations were made during treatment, and 30 and 60 days after it was discontinued.

The necrotic process continued, after removal of the foreign body, in the bronchial wall and its vessels. We suggest local bronchial lavage with 1% bicarbonate saline during extraction of the tablet and subsequent follow-up fibroscopies.

The diffusion of Enoxacin into the bronchial mucus was studied in 34 patients admitted because of an acute infectious episode over chronic bronchopathy. They received via the oral route 400 mg of Enoxacin twice daily. The antibiotic concentrations were measured in sputum and serum by microbiological assay and HPLC.

Each patient had single drug therapy with ofloxacin in a daily dosage of 200 mg taken in the morning on an empty stomach.

It was included in an extensive study of antibiotic diffusion into bronchial mucus. Pefloxacin was given to 35 patients divided into five groups according to the timing of sputum sampling.

Among them were 36 males (average 52 years old) and 14 females (average 58 years old). There was a high percentage (64%) of smokers (over 30 packs/year) within this population, which also included heavy drinkers.

The penetration of mezlocillin into bronchial secretions collected by fiberoscopy was determined in 18 hospital patients with acute-on-chronic bronchial infection. Samples of blood and bronchial mucus were collected simultaneously 3 hours after each 12-hourly intramuscular injection of 1 g mezlocillin. Antibiotic concentrations were measured by the microbiological method.

A case of relapsing polychondritis was successfully treated with a daily dose of 120 mg of diaminodiphenylsulfone. Clinical signs (fever, fatigue, conjunctivitis, chondritis and hoarseness of the voice) rapidly regressed and remain so 8 months later, despite a decrease in the dose. Biological parameters returned to normal (sedimentation rate, plasma perchlorosoluble seromucoids, urinary acid mucopolysaccharides), and histological and ultrastructural lesions of the auricular cartilage disappeared.
