Though millions of people practice yoga to reduce stress and improve their mood, it is unclear which aspect of yoga is responsible for these effects. To investigate relevant aspects, or "limbs" of yoga, participants who were novices in the practice of yoga engaged in a single yoga manipulation (i.e.

In order to reduce morbidity but preserve prognostic informations, a minimally invasive technique for the iliac part of dissection was developed. We evaluated the practicability of this intervention under routine conditions as well as its prognostic impact.

The postoperative report of the lymph node status of colorectal cancer in clinical practice is not a given fact. Among other factors, it is dependent on the experience and technique of the surgeon as well as the pathologist. Therefore a method like sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB) that identifies and provides for analysis the lymph node at highest risk for tumour involvement would be highly beneficial.

Method: Fifty patients with diagnosis of schizophrenia according to ICD-10 criteria were assessed by the scale under study. Analysis of its usefulness included: reliability (as internal consistency), validity - as content, construct, and diagnostic validity in relation to selected measures of mental state (CGI scale, PANSS), social (GAF scale, SOFAS), and cognitive functioning (WCST and N-back test), and feasibility of the scale - according to observed patients' coping with the task.
Introduction: After ilioinguinal radical lymph node dissection (RLND), the therapy for lymph fistulas constitutes a challenge. Risk factors for the genesis of lymph fistulas have not been sufficiently evaluated. We investigated possible factors that could influence the development of lymph fistulas in patients suffering from malignant melanoma after iloinguinal RLND.

Urea placement in band or nests has been shown to enhance N use efficiency, but limited work has been done to assess its affect on N(2)O emissions. This study compared N(2)O emissions from urea prills applied to an Amsterdam silt loam (fine-silty, mixed, superactive, frigid Typic Haplustolls) using broadcast, band, and nest placements. Experiments were conducted in greenhouse pots (200 kg N ha(-1)) and in canola (Brassica rapa L.

Algorithms of diagnosis and care with respect to tumour stage are presented. PREOPERATIVE DIAGNOSIS: Besides oesophagogastroduodenoscopy, endoscopic ultrasonography is necessary for the accurate diagnosis of T categories and as a selection criterion for neoadjuvant chemotherapy.

Adjunctive sentinel node biopsy (SNB) deserves consideration as a means of addressing this shortfall.
Methods: Data from two prospectively maintained databases established for multicentric studies of SNB in colon cancer that employed similar methodologies were pooled to establish technique potency selectively in T1/T2 disease (both overall and under optimized conditions) and to project potential clinical impact.
Purpose: This phase I clinical trial evaluated safety, feasibility, and efficiency of nonviral intratumoral jet-injection gene transfer in patients with skin metastases from melanoma and breast cancer.
Experimental Design: Seventeen patients were enrolled. The patients received five jet injections with a total dose of 0.
Sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB) in colorectal cancer (CRC) is a controversial issue. Different detection techniques, various protocols for the histopathological work-up of the SLN and a greatly differing experience between the investigators make the comparison of the available studies problematic. Nevertheless, it is clear, that the successful clinical application of SLNB in breast cancer and melanoma cannot simply be transferred into colorectal cancer treatment.

Case Report: We report the case of a young melanoma patient, who underwent resection of 5 distant metastases from 4 different organ systems. Thereby, the patient achieved a stable state of disease and a good quality of life for up to now 67 months without any evidence for further tumor manifestations at present.

Aim: Although 15-25% of patients with anal cancer present with superficial inguinal lymph node metastases but the routine application of groin irradiation is controversial because of serious side effects. Inguinal sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB) can be used to select patients appropriately for inguinal radiation. The study evaluates the efficiency and clinical impact of SLNB.

Risk factors for the development of CM are UV light exposure and individual characteristics relating to pigmentation, and especially the number of melanocytic nevi. The most important prognostic factor in CM is the vertical thickness of the primary tumor in the histological specimen.

This study examined this issue and compared the impact of MIC/ITC location with other established risk factors.
Methods: Paraffin slides of SLNs with MIC/ITC-involvement obtained from 68 breast cancer patients were evaluated for MIC/ITC location, lesion size, and various SLN morphologic features.
Sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB) in gastrointestinal-(GI)-tract cancer is not yet of clinical relevance. Nevertheless, the results in the upper GI-tract promise to be helpful to individualize the indication for surgical therapy. SLNB in colon cancer still fails to show high validity to predict the nodal status, but may be helpful to clarify the prognostic role of micrometastases/isolated tumor cells.

Patients And Methods: Paraffin blocks of the SLN and non-SLN from patients with primary breast cancer who had undergone SLN biopsy and axillary dissection were separated into three groups: (Group A) no tumor cell involvement in the SLN and non-SLN; (Group B) isolated tumor cells or micrometastases in the SLN, and tumor cell-free non-SLN; and (Group C) macrometastases in the SLN. One section of all the SLN and non-SLN was examined with immunohistochemistry using an anti-DC-Lamp-antibody.
Introduction: The clinical impact of sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB) in colon cancer is still controversial. The purpose of this prospective multicenter trial was to evaluate its clinical value to predict the nodal status and identify factors that influence these results.
Methods: Colon cancer patients without prior colorectal surgery or irradiation were eligible.
Background: The clinical impact of sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB) in gastric cancer is controversial. We performed a prospective trial to compare different methods: radiocolloid method (RM), dye method (DM), and both methods simultaneously (dual method, or DUM) for reliability and therapeutic consequences.
Methods: RM and DM were applied in 35 gastric cancer patients.
Aim: Because of their importance both for pathogenesis or clinical aspects of the disease and for patients' social functioning, cognitive dysfunctions are nowadays often considered as basic characteristics of schizophrenic disorders. This study was aimed at evaluation of the correlation between some indices of disordered cognitive functioning on the one hand and some variables describing course and psychopathology of schizophrenic disorders on the other.
Method: The study group consisted of 69 inpatients suffering from schizophrenia diagnosed according to both DSM-IV and ICD-10 criteria.
Aim: Hepatic metastases from melanoma are associated with poor prognosis. Systemic chemotherapy and biological treatments remain unsatisfactory. This study investigated the impact of hepatic arterial chemotherapy in patients with ocular and cutaneous melanoma.

Isolated tumor cells as a consequence of minimal residual disease are often not detectable by routine diagnostic procedures. However, before or after surgery, isolated tumor cells in lymph nodes, the peritoneal cavity, blood, or bone marrow can frequently be identified by immunohistochemical or molecular methods. Failure to reveal the presence of such cells results in under-staging of tumor patients and may constitute the source of unexpected tumor recurrence after radical surgery.

We prospectively evaluated the correlation of bone marrow findings, recurrence rate, and disease-free survival after long-term follow-up.
Methods: Bone marrow were aspirated from both iliac crests and stained with monoclonal cytokeratin (CK)-18 antibody in 209 patients before their initial operation.
