Hypothesis: Water drop infiltration into a thin amphiphilic porous medium is influenced by wettability. Due to the reorganization of amphiphilic matter in contact with water, polar interaction changes the wettability in the bulk porous medium and at the liquid/porous substrate interface. To model out of equilibrium water transfer, we propose a thermodynamics approach derived from Onsager's principle.

However, the tree-level DM-nucleus scattering diagram can be accompanied by simultaneous emission of a bremsstrahlung photon or a so-called "Migdal" electron. These provide an electron recoil component to the experimental signature at higher energies than the corresponding nuclear recoil.

A temperature difference (T_{1}>T_{2}) as well as a radial force field triggers a fluid flow similar to the Rayleigh-Bénard convection. Depinning of two-dimensional liquid ridges and three-dimensional drops on an inclined substrate is studied within the lubrication approximation. The structures are pinned to wetting heterogeneities arising from variations of the strength of the short-range contribution to the disjoining pressure. The case of a periodic array of hydrophobic stripes transverse to the slope is studied in detail using a combination of direct numerical simulation and branch-following techniques.

Objectives: Myocardial tissue Doppler (MTD) is a technique for the measurement of myocardial velocities in systole and diastole. This study evaluates the use of MTD in the assessment of cardiac diastolic function in fetuses with intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR) with placental insufficiency and in appropriate-for-gestational age (AGA) fetuses with hypertensive mothers.
Methods: This study included 14 IUGR fetuses with placental insufficiency (Group 1), 13 AGA fetuses with hypertensive mothers (Group 2), and 29 AGA fetuses with healthy mothers (Group 3).
Purpose: To test the hypothesis that the linear displacement of the septum primum (SP) is lower in fetuses with intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR) than in fetuses with appropriate growth for gestational age (AGA).
Methods: In a cross-sectional study, the ratio between the SP displacement and left atrial diameter (excursion index [EI]) was compared in 27 fetuses with IUGR (group 1), 24 fetuses with AGA of hypertensive mothers (group 2), and 35 controls (group 3). Flow through the atrioventricular (AV) valves and the umbilical artery resistance index (RI) were also compared.

The 2-, 3- and 4-amino-pyridine and their protonated forms, obtained by reaction with pyridinium chloride, were investigated by 15N NMR spectroscopy. Exhaustive evidence has been found that the protonation occurs mainly on the annular nitrogen. Protonation of 4-aminopyridine by dehydrohalogenation of 1,1,2,2-tetrachloroethane (TCE) was also studied by 13C NMR spectroscopy, which indicated that the protonation occurs via the formation of adducts.

As a structural property to be correlated with the measured values, the lipophilicity (log P) of the Chlorophenols was reevaluated with a new apparatus. The enzymatic system consisted of three types of enzymes: E(1)-beta-1,4-glucan glucanohydrolase; E(2)-beta-1,4-glucan cellobiohydrolase; and E(3)-beta-glucosidase. A mathematical model for the mechanism of the hydrolysis of cellulosic materials catalyzed by a multienzymatic system was checked and a good rationalization of the experimental results was achieved.
