We studied the characteristics of quality of life in patients in the acute and recovery phase of ischemic stroke in the vertebral-basilar basin due to hypertensive disease as the leading risk factor for the disease. The rates of basic daily activities on a Barthel scale, cognitive functions on the MMSE, physical and mental components of health on the SF-36 were significantly reduced in patients with acute ischemic stroke. The improvement in functional and cognitive impairments was observed during the first year after stroke.

The results of the multicenter open-label observational study of the efficacy and safety of the Melaxen (melatonin) for the treatment of disordered sleep in patients with chronic cerebral ischemia are presented. 2062 patients were studied with the use of subjective psychometric scales: subjective sleep characteristics scale, sleep apnea screening questionnaire, Epworth sleepiness scale, hospital anxiety and depression scale. Mean age of patients was 55.

Effect of phenotropil in combination with anticonvulsant drugs on the course of different forms of epilepsy and EEG parameters has been studied. Patients of a main group (31 patients) received phenotropil, along with antiepileptic drugs (AEP), in dosage 100 mg daily during 2 months. Effect of the therapy was compared to the patients of comparison group (30 patients) treated with AEP only.

Function of the adrenosympathetic system has been assessed in 103 patients with uterine myoma. Levels of biogenic amines (adrenaline, noradrenaline, histamin) were determined in uterine tissues using spectrofluorometry. It was found out that storage of vasoactive mediators in the uterine tissue represents a mechanism of uterine bleedings in patients with uterine myoma.
