We present the case of a child with a Gartland III humeral supracondylar fracture treated with a lateral external fixator and 1.6 mm Kirschner nails. The edema and postoperative pain subsided and the patient had early mobility, thus avoiding the use of cast immobilization.

Material And Methods: This is a retrospective, longitudinal, comparative study of patients with a diagnosis of distal third humeral shaft fractures; clinical and radiographic follow-up was done with the MEPI, UCLA and Montoya functional scales at week 24.
Results: The results of patient follow-up using the MEPI in Group I were: 2 poor, 3 fair, 1 excellent; in Group II: 8 excellent; in Group III: 3 poor, 2 fair, 4 excellent; in Group IV: 1 poor, 5 fair and 2 excellent.
We used nested multiplex polymerase chain reaction to determine the distribution of cytomegalovirus gB genotype in 30 Mexican children undergoing bone marrow transplantation. The genotypes were: gB1, 9/30 (30%); gB2, 8/30 (27%); gB3, 4/30 (13%), and gB4, 1/30 (3%); mixed genotypes were identified in 8/30 patients (27%). We conclude that the predominant genotypes identified were gB2 and gB1.

A total of 112 patients with pelvic fracture were seen at the Emergency Room; 12 of them with an open pelvic fracture; 75% were males, most of them ages 31 to 45 years of age; they were stabilized with a circular pelvic binder and external fixators with a V technique; a gastrointestinal bypass with colostomy was performed; 3 patients died within the first few hours due to hypovolemic shock, 5 survived a mean of 25 days and died due to other causes, and four patients were discharged alive. These lesions have a mortality rate of 66.

The advantage of reducing these fractures with elastic titanium nails and three buttress points is that neither the blood supply nor the physis are injured.
Material And Methods: Twenty-seven patients ages 5-15 years of age were analyzed.
In this prospective, longitudinal, comparative, observational study 15 patients with 17 fractures were reviewed from September 1st 2006 to December 31st 2007 and followed-up by the outpatient service at 4, 8, 12, 16 and 20 weeks and at one year. All patients were assessed with the Maryland functional scale. These fractures were more frequent among males, 94%, and mean age was 35 years.

Multiple injured patients treated at the Medical Red Cross Medical Trauma Center were reviewed, in the period comprised between June 2006 and July 2007. One-hundred cases with long bone and pelvis fractures, ranging between 10 and 75 years old, 21 women (21%) and 79 men (79%); the most common trauma mechanism was patients falling from a height above 2 meters (33%).

In this study we correlate a set of characteristics observed in 39 patients with thrombocytopenic purpura during the first week of medical treatment against the score of severity of the whole purpuric disorder, evaluated a the 25 week of evolution. It was accomplished with a model of multiple logistic regression of successive steps which let us to get the weights of each one of the indicants in order to predict the severity of the whole hemorrhagic diathesis.
