[Detection of the etiologic agent of hemorrhagic fever with a renal syndrome in the lungs of wild rodents].

The results of the studies on wild rodents trapped in the areas of the Leningrad region visits to which were associated with human cases of hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome (HFRS) are presented. In one of these areas 30% of bank voles were found to be infected. Specific fluorescence of high intensity was found in ctyostat sections of lungs from bank voles treated by the indirect fluorescent antibody procedure.

[Use of the laser scalpel in removing hemorroidal nodes].

The properties of laser scalpel (perfect homeostasis, aseptic coagulation surface, formation of dense coagulation crust) make it useful for proctological operations, and for ablation of hemorrhoids in particular. Operations were performed on 11 patients aged 33 to 62. No complications were noted.

[Analysis of hippocampal RNA in rats with genetically determined differences in their ability to learn].

Selection for twelve generations, by the speed of elaboration of a food-procuring motor conditioned reflex, produced an increased intensity of the synthesis of n and c fractions of the hippocampal RNA in rapidly learning animals as compared with those slowly learning. Electrophoretic analysis of the two fractions revealed similar series of RNA classes in the initial and the learning animals' groups. With high molecular RNA classes, insertion of the radioactive precursor was higher in the rapidly learning animals than in the slow learning ones.
