Patients with advanced kidney disease are at elevated risk of developing heart failure and appropriate risk stratification is important to permit them to receive kidney transplantation. The American Heart Association and American College of Cardiology joint statement provides guidance on risk stratification for the major cause of heart failure for these patients in its recommendations for coronary heart disease. Herein we provide an overview of the available literature on risk stratification for nonischemic heart failure and functional heart disease states such as pulmonary hypertension.

A simple technique was utilized to fabricate pure hexagonal LaO nanorods by utilizing lanthanum(III) nitrate hexahydrate (La(NO)·6HO) and ammonia (NHOH). The LaO nanoparticles were analyzed using XRD, TGA, Raman, SEM, FTIR, TEM, PL spectroscopy, and Mott-Schottky techniques. The XRD analysis confirmed the production of La(OH) nanorods under appropriate conditions, which were then successfully converted into LaOCO and finally into LaO nanorods through annealing.

As a new approach to the management of inflammatory disorders, a series of chromone-based derivatives containing a (carbamate)hydrazone moiety was designed and synthesized. The compounds were assessed for their ability to inhibit COX-1/2, 15-LOX, and mPGES-1, as a combination that should effectively impede the arachidonate pathway.
