Bilateral dolichoarteriopathy of internal carotid arteries as cause of bilateral ischemic strokes: Case report.

Most anatomic features of the internal carotid artery (ICA) are described as a straight course to the skull base free of branches. In some cases, the excessive elongation of the internal carotid artery in a confined space results in a curvature showing a "C" or "S" shape, or in an abnormal vascular shape made of a single or double vessel loop. These anatomic variants are called dolichoarteriopathies of the internal carotid artery.

Recurrent floating common carotid artery thrombus related to COVID-19: A case report.

The occurrence of arterial and venous thrombosis during coronavirus infection has been widely reported since the beginning of the epidemic. Floating carotid thrombus (FCT) in the common carotid artery is exceptional and its main known cause is atherosclerosis. We describe the case of a 54-year-old man who developed, one week after the onset symptomatology of related to COVID-19 infection, an ischemic stroke, complicating a large intraluminal floating thrombus in the left common carotid artery.

Spinal cord infarction complicating acute aortic syndrome: about 2 cases.

Spinal cord infarction is an uncommon but devastating disorder caused by various conditions. It remains however a rare neurological complication in acute aortic injuries. In this context, aortic dissection is the most frequent etiological factor.

Repeated intravenous thrombolysis in early recurrent stroke secondary to carotid web: Case report.

Intravenous thrombolysis with recombinant tissue plasminogen activator (rt-PA) is the first effective approved treatment for reducing ischemic stroke disability, and having a stroke within 3 months is usually a contraindication to thrombolysis. In this paper, we describe the case of a 58-year-old patient who received repeated intravenous thrombolysis at 10 days interval for a recurrent ischemic stroke, with dramatic improvement. The carotid diaphragm was behind this recurrent stroke and it was treated by stenting.

Cerebral venous thrombosis during relapse of ulcerative colitis: Case report with review of literature.

CVT is not usually readily recognized and treatment may be delayed, impacting on the prognosis. Cavernous sinus thrombosis in a COVID-19 patient: A case report.

Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is an emerged pandemic disease caused by a new coronavirus known as SARS-CoV-2 (severe acute respiratory syndrome-coronavirus-2). Initially the mortality of this infection are related to severe acute respiratory distress syndrome, but several publications also showed that this infection caused an inflammatory response with severe systemic complications [1]. Venous thromboembolism has been shown to be an important cause of morbidity and mortality in patients with COVID-19, both in the general inpatient and in the intensive care unit (ICU) setting, and even in patients receiving therapeutic anticoagulation [2].

[Gayet-Wernicke encephalopathy: clinical features and radiological anomalies].

Gayet Wernicke encephalopathy (EGW) is a neurological emergency secondary to thiamine deficiency (vitamin B1). This is more often secondary to chronic alcoholism. The purpose of this study is to remind clinicians of some clinical signs different from ethylism, suggesting EGW as well as to report four cases characterized by different types of anomalies shown by MRI.

Jean Rodier: History of Manganism in Morocco.

Jean Rodier (1920-2003), distinguished researcher and scientist, directed the Toxicology Department of Hygiene Institute of Rabat under the French Protectorate. From 1946, he developed numerous lines of research in occupational health, in particular on Manganism, a neurological disorder that impacted miners in his home country of Morocco. His many papers on Manganism, only one of which was published in English, describe field and laboratory research studies that focused its prevention and management.

A new semi-supervised approach for characterizing the Arabic on-line handwriting of Parkinson's disease patients.

Parkinson's disease (PD) is the second most common neurodegenerative disease affecting significant portion of elderly population. One of the most frequent hallmarks and the first manifestation of PD is deterioration of handwriting. Since the diagnosis of Parkinson's disease is difficult, researchers have worked to develop a support tool based on algorithms to separate healthy controls from PD patients.

Hemichorea-hemiballismus as an initial manifestation in a Moroccan patient with acquired immunodeficiency syndrome and toxoplasma infection: a case report and review of the literature.

Neurologic signs and symptoms may represent the initial presentation of AIDS in 10-30% of patients. Movement disorders may be the result of direct central nervous system infection by human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) or the result of opportunistic infections. We report the case of a 59 years old woman who had hemichorea-hemiballismus subsequently found to be secondary to a cerebral toxoplasmosis infection revealing HIV infection.

Infectious endocarditis complicated by an ischemic stroke and revealing Marfan syndrome.

Marfan syndrome is a systematic genetic disease of the connective tissue. The cardiac affection would predict the prognosis and ischemic stroke might complicate it. The purpose of this work is to discuss the mechanisms of the ischemic stroke in Marfan syndrome which have to be considered in all young patients of ischemic strokes.

Magnetic resonance imaging findings within the posterior and lateral columns of the spinal cord extended from the medulla oblongata to the thoracic spine in a woman with subacute combined degeneration without hematologic disorders: a case report and review of the literature.

Introduction: Subacute combined degeneration of the spinal cord is a rare cause of demyelination of the dorsal and lateral columns of the spinal cord and is a neurological complication of vitamin B12 deficiency. Subacute combined degeneration without anemia or macrocytosis is rare.

Case Presentation: We present a case of cobalamin deficiency in a 29-year-old Moroccan woman who presented with subacute combined degeneration without evidence of anemia or macrocytosis.

Predicting acute ischaemic stroke outcome using clinical and temporal thresholds.

Background. Few studies have analysed the natural course of cerebral ischaemia for predicting outcome. We aimed to determine the early clinical findings and the thresholds for deficit severity and symptom duration that make it possible to stratify outcome.

Ultrafast bold fMRI using single-shot spin-echo echo planar imaging.

The choice of imaging parameters for functional MRI can have an impact on the accuracy of functional localization by affecting the image quality and the degree of blood oxygenation-dependent (BOLD) contrast achieved. By improving sampling efficiency, parallel acquisition techniques such as sensitivity encoding (SENSE) have been used to shorten readout trains in single-shot (SS) echo planar imaging (EPI). This has been applied to susceptibility artifact reduction and improving spatial resolution.
