Article Synopsis
  • Acute fibrinous and organizing pneumonia (AFOP) is a rare type of pneumonia marked by fibrin deposits in the lungs, making it difficult to diagnose due to nonspecific clinical symptoms.
  • A patient initially misdiagnosed with community-acquired pneumonia underwent advanced testing, including metagenomics sequencing and lung biopsies, leading to a confirmed diagnosis of AFOP and successful treatment with corticosteroids.
  • To properly diagnose AFOP, a thorough approach including clinical evaluation, pathology, and exclusion of other diseases is crucial for determining the appropriate treatment strategy.

Article Synopsis
  • The coexistence of pulmonary alveolar proteinosis (PAP) and lung cancer is becoming more frequent, complicating treatment options.
  • Standard treatment protocols for patients with both conditions are still under investigation, creating challenges for clinicians.
  • A reported case of PAP with lung adenocarcinoma shows improved lung conditions after surgical removal of the tumor, emphasizing the need to prioritize tumor treatment.

Objective: This study aimed to enhance the understanding of the role of estrogen in lymphangioleiomyomatosis(LAM) and to conclude the impact of estrogen-altering events on the condition and recent advances in estrogen-based treatments for LAM.

Results: LAM development is strongly linked to mutations in the tuberous sclerosis gene (TSC1/2) and the presence of estrogen. Estrogen plays a significant role in the spread of TSC2-deficient uterine leiomyoma cells to the lungs and the production of pulmonary LAM.

Background: Tuberculosis (TB) always runs in the forefront of the global burden when it comes to infectious diseases. Tuberculosis, which can lead to impairment of quality of life, financial hardship, discrimination, marginalization, and social barriers, is a major public health problem. The assessment of TB burden and trend can provide crucial information for policy decision and planning, and help countries in the world to achieve the goal of sustainable development of ending the epidemic of TB in 2030.

Background: The latest incidence and disability-adjusted life-years (DALYs) of major bacterial skin diseases (BSD) and their relationship with socioeconomic are not readily available.

Objective: Describe the global age-standardized incidence and DALYs rates of BSD and analyze their relationship with socioeconomic.

Methods: All data were obtained from Global Burden of Disease (GBD) 2019 database.
