Steroid-induced osteonecrosis of the femoral head (SONFH) is the predominant cause of non-traumatic osteonecrosis of the femoral head (ONFH). Impaired blood supply and reduced osteogenic activity of the femoral head are the key pathogenic mechanisms of SONFH. Fibroblast growth factor 23 (FGF23) levels are not only a biomarker for early vascular lesions caused by abnormal mineral metabolism, but can also act directly on the peripheral vascular system, leading to vascular pathology.

This study investigated the impacts of virulence factors (VFs) on the removal of antibiotic resistant and pathogenic bacteria from municipal wastewater by ozone-free or ozone-encapsulated Fe(III)-coagulant-modified colloidal microbubbles (O_free-CCMBs or O-CCMBs). The highly interface-dependent process was initiated with cell-capture on the microbubble surface where the as-collected cells could be further inactivated with the bubble-released ozone and oxidative species if O-CCMBs were used.

Background: Increasing evidences have been indicated that FGF23 is associated with the biological behavior of malignant tumors, but its role in osteosarcoma and the specific mechanism need to be elucidated. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of FGF23 on the proliferation, migration and invasion of osteosarcoma cells, and the possible molecular mechanisms.
Methods: Western blot was used to detect differences in FGF23 expression in osteosarcoma cells MG-63 and U2-OS and osteoblasts hFOB1.

Hyperforin is a representative polycyclic polyprenylated acylphloroglucinols (PPAPs) that exerts a variety of pharmacological activities. The complete biosynthesis pathway of hyperforin has not been elucidated due to its complex structure and unclear genetic background of its source plants. This mini-review focuses on the bioactivity and biosynthesis of hyperforin.

The globally-appeared HCB species - Microcystis aeruginosa (spherical cells, block mass colonies), Microcystis panniformis (spherical cells, flat penniform-like colonies) and Anabaena flos-aquae (filamentous morphology) were chosen as representative species. CCOMBs were generated by modifying the bubble surface and the gas core with coagulant and ozone, respectively.

This study investigated simultaneously capturing and inactivating/oxidizing the antibiotic resistant bacteria (ARB) and cell-free antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs) in waters by flexibly-functionalized microbubbles. The microbubbles were obtained by surface-modifying the bubbles with coagulant (named as coagulative colloidal gas aphrons, CCGAs) and further encapsulating ozone in the gas core (named as coagulative colloidal ozone aphrons, CCOAs).
