Background: The objective of this study was to evaluate differences in various clinical endpoints in patients with reconstructive surgery by renal partial nephrectomy for tumors up to 4 cm compared to tumors larger than 4 cm.
Material And Methods: A total of 170 partial renal resection patients that presented malignant tumors were included in the retrospective study. Data was analyzed retrospectively based on internal clinic files, as well as a questionnaire to enhance the follow-up clinical outcomes data obtained.
Proficiency in areas of task completion, information processing, and time management are important attributes for successful academic performance and can be assessed using the Learning Assessment Study Strategies Inventory (LASSI). The purpose of this study was to determine if there were differences in learning strategies across four behavioral profiles using the DISC style analysis (Dominance, Influence, Steadiness, Compliance). Graduate health professions students (n=247) were administered the DISC and LASSI to assess study strategy categories based on their natural DISC behavioral style.

Patients And Methods: From January 2013 to February 2014, the results of 142 patients were analyzed prospectively at a single center. Indications for disobstruction were in line with current EAU guidelines, but independent of the underlying causes of obstruction.
Background: The goal of this study was to evaluate how partial nephrectomy is technically performed in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.
Methods: A one-page anonymous questionnaire was designed to evaluate the indication, the technical procedure, and the follow-up of R1 situation after partial nephrectomy. Furthermore, the size of the hospitals and their catchment areas were recorded.

Objective: To propose possible success-driven solutions for problem and complication rates encountered with the ATOMS(®) sling system, based on first-hand experience; and to provide possible actual alternative scenarios for the treatment of male stress urinary incontinence (SUI).
Patients And Methods: During the defined period (between 4/2010 and 04/2014), 36 patients received ATOMS(®) system implants at our clinic. We collected pre- and post-operative evaluation data using the International Consultation on Incontinence Questionnaire Short Form (ICIQ SF).

For bulbar urethral strictures up to 2.5 cm in length, the one-stage urethral plastic surgery with stricture excision and direct end-to-end anastomosis remains the best procedure to guarantee a high success rate. This retrospective review shows the results of 21 patients who underwent bulbar end-to-end anastomosis from 2010-2013.

Based on this case report of a 39-year-old man with multiple intracerebral lesions, we describe a PCR method called 16S rDNA-PCR which can be used to identify panbacterial DNA by focussing on the universal gene sequences for the bacterial 16S part of the ribosome.

Patients And Methods: In retrospect, X-rays were selected of the hands of 200 healthy Caucasian children (120 boys and 80 girls, aged 4-18 yr). The involved children were selected among a larger group of children submitted to the surgical department of our institute for evaluation of a suspected fracture after an occurred trauma.
Ganglioneuromas are rare benign neurogenous neoplasms. The clinical symptoms of ganglioneuromas of the neck are usually mild and non-specific and definitive diagnosis requires a histological examination. We present the case of a 35-year-old female who complained of retroauricular pain as her first symptom and who was initially diagnosed with migraine.

Patients with brain metastases usually receive highly palliative treatment and are excluded from studied investigating new therapeutic concepts. However, there appears to be a subgroup of patients with brain metastases originating from colorectal cancer who have a median survival comparable to that of other metastatic sites.

Background: Vaccinations are preventive measures against serious infections. In relation to the number of vaccinations per year, the incidence of severe complications is extremely low.
Patient: Two weeks after vaccinations against hepatitis A, hepatitis B and yellow fever in preparation for a trip to Africa a 21-year-old woman experienced an acute and irreversible loss of vision to 0,05 and nasal visual field defect in the left eye.
Auditory similarities in voices of monozygotic twins have already been described in the literature. However, is there a clinical relevance? Thus, the present study was designed to identify parameters of vocal performance and acoustic features which are significantly more similar in monozygotic twins than in non-related persons. In our hypothesis, comparable prerequisites for an increased vocal load in a profession or in an artistic education of the voice could be due to these similarities.

There has been considerable public concern that emissions from intensive livestock farming may have hazardous effects on human health, particularly on the respiratory system. From October 1991 to September 1992, data on consultations of asthmatic children (up to 8 years) were obtained by a network of 25 GP and paediatric practices in South Oldenburg, a region with one of the highest livestock densities in Germany. Comparable data from a similar network of 75 practices in 3 adjacent regions (Brunswick, Hanover, Verden) with average livestock density served as a reference.
