Article Synopsis
  • The study examines the impact of aluminum oxide (AlO) nanoparticles on bone density in Wistar rats, highlighting the importance of assessing toxicity before using nanostructures.
  • AlO nanoparticles, characterized by X-ray diffraction and transmission electron microscopy, were administered in varying concentrations (25 to 1000 µg/ml) to the rats, with significant bone density reduction observed at higher concentrations (250, 500, and 1000 µg/ml).
  • Histopathological analysis indicated that these higher concentrations also caused notable damage to bone tissue, suggesting that caution is needed when considering the use of AlO nanoparticles in medical devices like implants and prostheses due to their toxic effects.

Antioxidant agents and cholinesterase inhibitors are the foremost drugs for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease (AD). In this study, a new peptide from Ziziphus jujuba fruits was investigated for its inhibitory activity against acetylcholinesterase (AChE) and butyrylcholinesterase (BChE) enzymes as well as antioxidant activity. This peptide was introduced as a new peptide and named Snakin-Z.
