Unlabelled: It is currently accepted that cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAF) participate in T-cell exclusion from tumor nests. To unbiasedly test this, we used single-cell RNA sequencing coupled with multiplex imaging on a large cohort of lung tumors. We identified four main CAF populations, two of which are associated with T-cell exclusion: (i) MYH11+αSMA+ CAF, which are present in early-stage tumors and form a single cell layer lining cancer aggregates, and (ii) FAP+αSMA+ CAF, which appear in more advanced tumors and organize in patches within the stroma or in multiple layers around tumor nests.

Purpose: For patients who select a specialty hospital for cancer treatment, the wait time until the initial consultation leaves patients anxious and delays treatment. To improve quality of care, we implemented an enhanced patient clinical streamlining (EPACS) process that establishes an early connection and coordinates care before the first surgical outpatient visit at our specialty cancer center.

Multiferroic heterostructures based on the strain-mediated mechanism present ultralow heat dissipation and large magnetoelectric coupling coefficient, two conditions that require endless improvement for the design of fast nonvolatile random access memories with reduced power consumption. This work shows that a structure consisting of a [Pb(MgNb)O]-[PbTiO] (001) substrate on which a crystalline FeGa(001)/MgO(001) bilayer is deposited exhibits a giant magnetoelectric coupling coefficient of order 15 × 10 s m at room temperature. That result is a 2-fold increment over the previous highest value.

The use of wavefront shaping to generate extended optical excitation patterns which are confined to a predetermined volume has become commonplace on various microscopy applications. For multiphoton excitation, three-dimensional confinement can be achieved by combining the technique of temporal focusing of ultra-short pulses with different approaches for lateral light shaping, including computer generated holography or generalized phase contrast. Multidisciplinary rounding (MDR) reduces medical errors and improves the quality of care for hospitalized patients. The purpose of this study was to evaluate hospital length of stay, patient satisfaction, admission to a skilled care facility, and the use of home health care or hospice in patients who received MDR compared to those who did not. This retrospective study included the records of 3,077 thoracic surgical patients with cancer who were admitted to a midwestern National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer center from January 1, 2006, through July 1, 2011.
