Unlabelled: Mediation analysis has emerged as a versatile tool for answering mechanistic questions in microbiome research because it provides a statistical framework for attributing treatment effects to alternative causal pathways. Using a series of linked regressions, this analysis quantifies how complementary data relate to one another and respond to treatments. Despite these advances, existing software's rigid assumptions often result in users viewing mediation analysis as a black box.

Intensive care unit (ICU) mortality in children ≤ 10 kg reported by the prospective pediatric CRRT (ppCRRT, 2001-2003) registry was 57%. We aimed to evaluate characteristics associated with ICU mortality using a contemporary registry.

Yet little is known about approaches for doing so. We used geospatial analysis to model optimised scale-up and deployment of CHWs in Mali, to inform strategic and operational planning by the Ministry of Health and Social Development.

The objective of our study was to develop a locally valid and reliable screening instrument for use in identifying pregnant women and mothers of young children with a local depression syndrome, , in rural Mali.
Methods: We administered a locally adapted screening instrument containing items from the Edinburgh Postpartum Depression Scale (EPDS) and Hopkins Symptom Checklist (HSCL-25) to 180 pregnant women and mothers of children under age 2 in Sélingué, Mali to assess the instrument's psychometric properties and validity.
Background and objective The severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), which causes coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), has affected all regions, demographics, and age groups worldwide. However, few studies have investigated the prevalence of childhood obesity and severe COVID-19 presentation in a predominately Hispanic population. In light of this, we investigated the role of underlying obesity in COVID-19 presentations and outcomes at a tertiary care children's hospital by using subcategories based on patients' body mass index (BMI).

A review of the dose considerations to patients vs radiography in a chiropractic clinical setting and to review the effective radiation dose to the patient.
Methods: A review of studies discussing cervical biomechanics, neurovascular structures, and abnormal radiographic findings, was discussed in relation to chiropractic clinical relevance.
Introduction: Maternal mortality is one of the main causes of death for women of childbearing age in Mali, and improving this outcome is slow, even in regions with relatively good geographic access to care. Disparities in maternal health services utilization can constitute a major obstacle in the reduction of maternal mortality in Mali and indicates a lack of equity in the Malian health system. Literature on maternal health inequity has explored structural and individual factors influencing outcomes but has not examined inequities in health facility distribution within districts with moderate geographic access.

Some favor temporary fracture fixation before definitive vascular repair to limit potential graft complications. Others advocate immediate revascularization to minimize ischemic time.

The Government of Mali is aiming for universal coverage of IPTp-SP. However, coverage is still low, estimated to be 18% for completion of three doses (IPTp-SP3).

We address these two challenges with Tiny Earth, an undergraduate research course that excites students about science and creates a pipeline for antibiotic discovery.

Design: Case control.
Setting: Two Level 1 trauma centers.
This study investigated the effects of two doses of freeze-dried watermelon (WM) on bone and lipid parameters in ovariectomized (OVX) mice, a model of post-menopausal osteoporosis. Three-month-old C57BL/6 female mice (n=46) were sham-operated (SHAM) or OVX and randomly assigned to the control or WM diets for 12 weeks: SHAM-control, OVX-control, OVX+1%, or 10% (wt/wt) freeze-dried WM. All diets were isocaloric and isonitrogenous, and had the same calcium and phosphorus concentrations.

Methods: We convened a diverse group of global stakeholders for a high-level dialogue on how to create an enabling ecosystem for disruptive primary care innovation. We focused our discussion on four themes: workforce innovation and strengthening; impactful use of data and technology; private sector engagement; and innovative financing mechanisms.
Objectives: To evaluate the rate of, and reasons for, conversion of closed treatment of humeral shaft fractures using a fracture brace, to surgical intervention.
Design: Multicenter, retrospective analysis.
Setting: Nine Level 1 trauma centers across the United States.
Objectives: To develop a radiographic fracture scoring system for lateral compression type 1 (LC-1) pelvic fractures based on OTA/AO survey data and to preliminarily evaluate this system within an LC-1 pelvis fracture cohort.
Design: Survey study with validation patient cohort.
Setting: Two Level 1 academic trauma centers.
Objectives: To determine the optimal fixation method [intramedullary nail (IMN) vs. plate fixation (PF)] for treating critical bone defects with the induced membrane technique, also known as the Masquelet technique.
Design: Retrospective cohort study.
Vanadium dioxide (VO) is one of the most extensively studied materials in the strongly correlated electron family capable of sustaining an insulator-to-metal transition. Here we present our studies of high-quality thin films of epitaxially grown VO on c-AlO(0001) and TiO(001) via reactive DC pulsed magnetron sputtering. We present the structural transition probed via Reflection High Energy Electron Diffraction (RHEED) for the first time and we correlate the surface microstructure measurements with simulations before, during, and after the thermally induced transition.

This article examines new imaging, diagnostic, and assessment techniques that may affect the care of patients with orthopedic trauma and/or infection. Three-dimensional imaging has assisted in fracture assessment preoperatively, whereas improvement in C-arm technology has allowed real-time evaluation of implant placement and periarticular reduction before leaving the operating room. Advances in imaging techniques have allowed earlier and more accurate diagnosis of nonunion and infection.

We developed a Web-based NPCR cost assessment tool (NPCR-CAT) to collect activity-based cost data from all 48 NPCR registries. We collected data on registry funding, actual expenditures, and factors that may affect the efficiency of operating a central cancer registry.
