[Multicentric Screening of Local Antibiotic Resistance in Uncomplicated Urinary System Infections: 1850 Patients from 37 Centers].

This study was aimed to identify the most frequently observed pathogens in uncomplicated urinary tract infections from outpatient urinary isolates obtained across seven different geographical regions in Türkiye and to determine whether the antibiotic resistance rates of these pathogens differ significantly between these regions. The study included patients aged 18 to 65 years who were diagnosed with uncomplicated urinary tract infections and had positive urine cultures from March 2021 to August 2022, across 37 different centers in Türkiye. The participating centers were selected based on their use of the disk diffusion method, in line with the European Committee on Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing (EUCAST) guidelines, to ensure standardization of urine culture data.

Spinal anesthesia vs general anesthesia in the endoscopic management of proximal ureteral stones: A critical evaluation focusing on the total anesthesia time.

Introduction: This study was aimed to compare spinal and general anesthesia methods in endoscopic management of proximal ureteral stones with a particular emphasis on total anesthesia time.

Methods: A total of 246 adult patients undergoing ureteroscopic management for proximal ureteral stones between January 2021 and March 2023 were enrolled. Two different types of anesthesia namely spinal (Group 1, n=109) and general (Group 2, n=137) anesthesia were applied during these procedures.

A new grading system for testicular trauma and one-year follow-up results on male testicular function: Gülhane Grading System.

Background: This study reports our seven-year experience of one-year follow-up results after scrotal and testicular trauma, classified according to the Gülhane Grading System (GGS). We provide detailed hormonal analyses, ultrasound (US) evaluations, and spermiogram results. There are no previous studies that focus on all these detailed topics in relation to a grading system.

The Effect of Different Education Methods Before Invasive Urodynamics on Patients' Anxiety, Pain, Readiness and Satisfaction Levels: Randomized Controlled Clinical Trial.

Background: Urodynamic testing is an invasive procedure that causes pain and anxiety. Patient education is an evidence-based nursing intervention that relieves pain and anxiety and increases patient satisfaction.

Aims: This study was carried out to compare the effects of different education methods utilized before a urodynamic testing procedure on patients' pain, anxiety, readiness for the procedure, and satisfaction.

A Retrospective Analysis of 83 Patients with Testicular Mass Who Underwent Testis-Sparing Surgery: The Eurasian Uro-oncology Association Multicenter Study.

Introduction: Herein, we analyzed the histopathological, oncological and functional outcomes of testis-sparing surgery (TSS) in patients with distinct risk for testicular cancer.

Methods: This is a multicenter retrospective study on consecutive patients who underwent TSS. Patients were categorized in high- or low-risk testicular germ cell tumor (TGCT) according to the presence/absence of features compatible with testicular dysgenesis syndrome.

The Efficiency and Safety of Mirabegron Monotherapy for the Treatment of Urge Incontinence in Women Aged >80 Years.

Objective We aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of mirabegron monotherapy in very older (>80 years) women with overactive bladder (OAB) who were discontinued anticholinergic drugs by the other departments. Material and methods The present retrospective study evaluated very older (>80 years) women with OAB who were discontinued anticholinergic drugs by the other departments between May 2018 and January 2021. Efficacy assessments were performed using Overactive Bladder-Validated Eight-Question (OAB-V8) scores before and after mirabegron monotherapy (12 weeks).

A conformational switch controlling the toxicity of the prion protein.

Prion infections cause conformational changes of the cellular prion protein (PrP) and lead to progressive neurological impairment. Here we show that toxic, prion-mimetic ligands induce an intramolecular R208-H140 hydrogen bond ('H-latch'), altering the flexibility of the α2-α3 and β2-α2 loops of PrP. Expression of a PrP mutant mimicking the H-latch was constitutively toxic, whereas a PrP mutant unable to form the H-latch conferred resistance to prion infection.

A single center's experience of the extrapulmonary neuroendocrine carcinomas.

Objective: Extrapulmonary neuroendocrine carcinoma (EP-NEC) is a rare tumor type, and a standard therapy for EP-NEC has not yet been established. The purpose of this research was to explore the overall survival (OS) and therapeutic effects of platinum-etoposide combination therapy in EP-NEC.

Methods: This retrospective study was conducted based on the medical records from January 2010 to March 2020.

Relationship between pathological response and molecular subtypes in locally advanced breast cancer patients receiving neoadjuvant chemotherapy.

Majority of patients with breast cancer were diagnosed with locally advanced stages of the disease (54%). This study aimed to explain the pathological response received to neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NACT) according to the molecular classification of breast cancer in patients with locally advanced tumors. One hundred and one patients with locally advanced breast cancer treated with neoadjuvant chemotherapy were analyzed.

Bevacizumab-induced isolated oculomotor nerve palsy in glioblastoma multiforme.

Introduction: Bevacizumab, a monoclonal antibody against the vascular endothelial growth factor receptor, is the standard treatment of recurrent glioblastoma multiforme. In addition to common systemic side effects of bevacizumab, there are rare cases of cranial nerve palsy.

Case Report: We report a case of transient oculomotor nerve palsy after systemic administration of bevacizumab.

The timing of micro-TESE: what is the ideal age for male and female partner to bring a child to home?

Objective: The aim of this study was to analyze the results of microsurgical testicular sperm extraction (micro-TESE) and investigate the potential factors that may affect the successful sperm retrieval and timing of micro-TESE.

Methods: A total of 56 patients with nonobstructive azoospermia (NOA) who underwent micro-TESE procedure between January 2017 and December 2019 were retrospectively analyzed. The patient age, marriage duration, infertility duration, smoking, chronic illness, varicocele status, previous scrotal surgeries, and the presence of genetic disease were noted by an urologist for all patients.

Examination of clinical data and semen analysis results of patients undergoing orchiectomy for testicular tumor.

Objective: Testicular tumor constitutes 1% of male neoplasms. Infertility can be determined in patients with testicular tumors before orchiectomy due to the deterioration of spermatogenesis. The aim of this study was to show the clinical, radiological, and pathological characteristics and spermiogram results of patients with testicular tumor and their relationship with each other.

Chondro-inductive hyaluronic acid/chitosan coacervate-based scaffolds for cartilage tissue engineering.

Injuries related to articular cartilage are among the most challenging musculoskeletal problems because of poor repair capacity of this tissue. The lack of efficient treatments for chondral defects has stimulated research on cartilage tissue engineering applications combining porous biocompatible scaffolds with stem cells in the presence of external stimuli. This work presents the role of rat bone marrow mesenchymal stem cell (BMSC) encapsulated-novel three-dimensional (3D) coacervate scaffolds prepared through complex coacervation between different chitosan salts (CHI) and sodium hyaluronate (HA).

Penile prosthesis implantation: A single center 25 years of experience.

Objectives: We analyzed the long-term results of malleable and inflatable penile prosthesis: the rates of complications, revision surgery and patient satisfaction.

Materials And Methods: Between January 1996 and December 2020, a total of 138 patients underwent implantation of a malleable or inflatable types penile prosthesis. The data of the patients were derived from the patient files and digital recording system.

Introduction: Erlotinib is an effective treatment option for EGFR-mutant non-small cell lung cancer. It is important to predict patients who will respond better to erlotinib. We designed this study to investigate the effect of renal insufficiency (RI) on erlotinib treatment outcomes.

Does Watching a Relaxing Video During Cystoscopy Affect Pain and Anxiety Levels of Female Patients? A Randomized Controlled Trial.

Background: Cystoscopy is noted to be more painful in men. Research has been done to support the use of video in men to reduce pain; it would follow that video would be useful in reducing pain in women as well.

Aims: The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of watching a relaxing video during cystoscopy on the pain and anxiety levels of female patients.

Immune-related adverse events associated with immune checkpoint inhibitors in patients with cancer.

Introduction: With the widespread use of immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs), we are facing challenges in the management of immune-related adverse events (irAEs). We aimed to characterize the spectrum of toxicity, management, and outcomes for irAEs.

Methods: Patients who were treated with at least one ICI in clinical trials, expanded access programs, or routine clinical practice were included.

Loss of skeletal muscle area and fat-free mass during dabrafenib/trametinib and vemurafenib/cobimetinib treatments in patients with BRAF-mutant metastatic malignant melanoma.

This study aimed to assess whether dabrafenib/trametinib and vemurafenib/cobimetinib treatments are associated with a change in skeletal muscle area (SMA) and total fat-free mass (FFM) assessed by computed tomography (CT), and to compare the efficacy and safety profile of these treatments in patients with metastatic melanoma. Thirty-one patients treated with B-Raf proto-oncogene, serine/threonine kinase/MAPK extracellular receptor kinase inhibitors were included between 2016 and 2019. Eighteen patients received dabrafenib/trametinib and remaining patients received vemurafenib/cobimetinib.

Follicular lymphoma generating in a patient with non-small cell lung cancer following nivolumab discontinuation.

Introduction: Immune checkpoint inhibitors have demonstrated the benefit for many cancer types, melanoma, non-small cell lung cancer, urothelial cancer, renal cell cancer, etc. Especially in advanced non-small cell lung cancer, significant improvement in survival results has been shown.

Case Report: Here, we report a 66-year-old man with lung adenocarcinoma who received nivolumab for 80 cycles.

In this study, we aimed to define the clinico-radiological data and treatment options for intratesticular epidermoid cysts (IEC). MATERIALS AND METHODS: We retrospectively reviewed the medical records of the patients that under went surgery for testicular mass between 1995 and 2017. Data of the patients whose histopathological evaluation revealed IEC were recorded.

Does preoperative use of silodosin affect the stages of F-URS procedure?

Objectives: To evaluate the effect of silodosin on stages of the flexible ureterorenoscopy (F-URS) procedures.

Methods: Between November 2015 and August 2017, a total of 76 patients suffering from 10-30 mm kidney stone were enrolled in this randomized prospective study. Patients were randomly divided into 2 groups for treatment: Group 1 had F-URS with preoperative daily uptake of 8 mg silodosin for 10 days, and group 2 had F-URS without silodosin uptake.

Evaluation of depression, anxiety and quality of life in patients with non-obstructive azoospermia.

Objective: The aim of this study was to determine the levels of depression, anxiety and quality of life in non-obstructive azoospermia (NOA) patients who attended our clinic.

Materials And Methods: A total of 40 male patients were included in the study troubled with non-obstructive azoospermia. An etiological classification was made according to the hormone levels of the patients.

The cognitive fusion prostate biopsy using a smart phone in the diagnosis of prostate cancer.

Objectives: In this research, we designed a cognitive fusion(CF) prostate biopsy(PB) (CFPB) technique by examining the multiparametric MRI of prostate (MP_MRI-P) images in a smart-phone near the trans-rectal ultrasound (TRUS) device, and examined the results.

Methods: Between January 2011 and January 2017, a total of 344 men who had PB enrolled in this study. Group 1 had a minimum of a 12-core standard TRUS PB (TRUSPB).
