Aim: The use of alcohol affects the central nervous system and plays important roles in various neurological disorders through neurotoxicity resulting from blood-brain barrier (BBB) permeability. The BBB is regulated by tight junction proteins interacting closely with endothelial cells. This study evaluated the serum levels of proteins and spectrin degradation products associated with BBB damage in patients with alcohol use disorder.

Biogenic amines including cadaverine, histamine, and tyramine, were converted to their acetylacetone derivatives in water-methanol medium. The proposed method involves a pre-column derivatization of species followed by RP-HPLC separation with Thermo Hypersil Gold reversed-phase column and UV detection at 315 nm.

The modified electrode surface was characterized by a scanning electron microscope (SEM). The PMB/MWCNT modified GCE exhibits a distinct shift of the oxidation potential of IRT on the cathodic direction and a considerable enhancement of the peak current compared with bare electrode.

The effect of the mobile phase composition on the pKa was studied by measuring the pKa at different acetonitrile-water mixtures in an HPLC-UV method. To explain the variation of the pKa values obtained over the whole composition range studied, the quasi-lattice quasi-chemical theory of preferential solvation was applied.
