NANO-GBM trial of AGuIX nanoparticles with radiotherapy and temozolomide in the treatment of newly diagnosed Glioblastoma: Phase 1b outcomes and MRI-based biodistribution.

Background: In glioblastoma (GBM), tumor progression occurs mainly within the irradiated tumor volume. To address this challenge, a radiosensitization strategy with intravenous gadolinium-based theranostic nanoparticles (AGuIX) is being explored in the NANO-GBM phase1b/2R trial (NCT04881032). Here, we present the results of the phase 1b part, which is the first-in-human use of these nanoparticles with radiotherapy and chemotherapy for the treatment of newly diagnosed GBM.

Single-leg versus double-leg hip spica casts in the management of paediatric femoral shaft fractures? A systematic review and meta-analysis.

Background: Paediatric femoral shaft fractures can be managed with single- or double-leg hip spica casting between ages six-months and six-years. The aim of this review was to determine if single-leg hip spicas reduce the impact on family life without compromising fracture stability.

Quantifying gadolinium-based nanoparticle uptake distributions in brain metastases via magnetic resonance imaging.

AGuIX, a novel gadolinium-based nanoparticle, has been deployed in a pioneering double-blinded Phase II clinical trial aiming to assess its efficacy in enhancing radiotherapy for tumor treatment. This paper moves towards this goal by analyzing AGuIX uptake patterns in 23 patients. A phantom was designed to establish the relationship between AGuIX concentration and longitudinal ( ) relaxation.

Background: Despite standard treatments including chemoradiotherapy with temozolomide (TMZ) (STUPP protocol), the prognosis of glioblastoma patients remains poor. AGuIX nanoparticles have a high radiosensitizing potential, a selective and long-lasting accumulation in tumors and a rapid renal elimination. Synthesis and Characterisation of Novel Bis(diphenylphosphane oxide)methanidoytterbium(III) Complexes.

Reaction of [YbCp(dme)] (Cp = cyclopentadienyl, dme = 1,2 dimethoxyethane) with bis(diphenylphosphano)methane dioxide (HdppmO) leads to deprotonation of the ligand HdppmO and oxidation of ytterbium, forming an extremely air-sensitive product, [Yb(HdppmO)] (), a six-coordinate complex with three chelating (OPCHPO) HdppmO ligands. Complex was also obtained by a redox transmetallation/protolysis synthesis from metallic ytterbium, Hg(CF) and HdppmO. In a further preparation, the reaction of [Yb(CF)] with HdppmO, not only yielded compound , but also gave a remarkable tetranuclear cage, [Yb(µ-HdppmO)(µ-F)] () containing two [Yb(µ-F)] rhombic units linked by two fluoride ligands and the tetranuclear unit is encapsulated by six bridging HdppmO donors.

Development of an air flow calorimeter prototype for the measurement of thermal power released by large radioactive waste packages.

The estimation and control of the thermal power released by the radioactive waste packages are a key parameter in the management of radioactive waste geological repository sites. In the framework of the European project "Metrology for decommissioning nuclear facilities," the French National Agency of Radioactive Waste Management (ANDRA) collaborates with Laboratoire National de Métrologie et D'essais in order to measure the thermal power up to 500 W of typical real size radioactive waste packages (of at least 0.175 m) with an uncertainty better than 5% by using a measurement method traceable to the international system of units.

Atypical presentation of appendicitis.

A woman aged 64 years presented as an emergency with a mass in the right iliac fossa, clinically within the abdominal wall, but an otherwise soft abdomen. Systemically, she was quite well with normal vital signs. Allergen immunotherapy has unique immunological rationale, since the approach is tailored to the specific IgE spectrum of an individual and modifies the natural course of the disease as it has a persistent efficacy after completion of treatment. House dust mite sublingual immunotherapy is safe in patients with mild-to-moderate, persistent asthma: a clinical trial.

Background: The safety of allergen immunotherapy (AIT) in asthma has not always been sufficiently documented; accordingly, fear of asthma exacerbations has made physicians somewhat reluctant to prescribe AIT in this context. In a double-blind, placebo-controlled, randomized clinical trial, house dust mite (HDM) sublingual AIT was found to be efficacious in moderate, persistent asthma. The trial's safety results are now reported in detail.

Development and evaluation of a sublingual tablet based on recombinant Bet v 1 in birch pollen-allergic patients.

Background: Sublingual immunotherapy (SLIT) applied to type I respiratory allergies is commonly performed with natural allergen extracts. Methods: In a prospective multicentre study, patients consulting for grass-pollen-induced allergic rhinitis (AR) recorded a 15-point global rating of change scale (GRCS) score and the Rhinoconjunctivitis Quality of Life Questionnaire (RQLQ) score on a weekly basis and the individual symptom scores comprising the RTSS on a daily basis over two consecutive weeks.
