Knee popping is a frequent symptom among knee disorders which requires further investigation in case of a recent evolution of the symptom or pathological associated ones. This article reports a rare presentation of pigmented villonodular synovitis (PVNS), identified as the cause of knee popping symptoms, by performing MRI sequences at various degrees of knee flexion for a patient complaining from a gradual onset of knee popping, occurring when bending the knee over 120° of flexion. MRI sequences were performed just before the popping occurs (flexion 90°) and right after it had occurred (flexion 120°).

Rhinoplasty is a complex procedure. To achieve the expected aesthetic result, surgeons often use grafts both for structural and camouflage purposes. The perfect camouflage graft should be soft, malleable and precisely tailored to the patient's needs, with as few donor sites as possible.

Facial feminization is a long process with multiple surgical steps that is known to improve quality of life in transgender patients. Visible scars are a frequent complaint by this community as it adds to the stigmatization in this population. Combined procedures have been shown to be effective, by reducing the number of hospitalizations and the total length of recovery periods.

Dorsal irregularities are one of the most common issues in modern rhinoplasty. Rhinoplasty surgeons propose placing interface grafts lining the hole dorsum to ensure a natural unoperated look. Diced cartilage embedded in Choukroun's platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) scaffold being one of the most recent innovations in the field.

Objectives: To answer the clinical research questions: "Among facial paralysis patients (FPPs), did lengthening temporalis myoplasty (LTM) improve public's perceptions, patients' perceptions, as well as objective oral measurements of post-operative outcomes?"

Methods: To answer the research questions, we designed and implemented a hybrid cross-sectional and retrospective cohort study enrolling a cohort of laypersons and FPPs treated at a tertiary care center from 2011 to 2020. The primary predictor variables were LTM in FPPs (before/after) and medical background on medical care (FPPs/laypersons). The main outcome variable was post-operative outcomes (from a public's perspective, FPPs' perspective, and with objective measurements).

Objectives/hypothesis: To identify barriers in access to care for head and neck cancer (H&NC) patients in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), specifically within Dakar, Senegal, using both quantitative and qualitative data.

Study Design: Descriptive observational study.

Methods: Patients with H&NC were selected from two independent university hospitals in Dakar, Senegal.

Importance: The identification of the barriers to care for patients with head and neck cancer in low-income and lower-middle-income countries is a crucial first step toward the identification of targets for developing and implementing cost-effective programs to increase awareness, prevention, and treatment of head and neck cancer in this setting.

Objective: To identify the barriers to care for patients presenting with head and neck cancer in low-income and lower-middle-income countries.

Evidence Review: Nine databases were searched from their inception to December 21, 2017: Africa-Wide Information, the Cochrane Library, Embase, Global Health, LILACS, MEDLINE, BIOSIS Previews, and Web of Science.

Objectives: Long-term transtympanic tube insertions for chronic middle ear disease are associated with high rates of complications. The objective of this study was to examine the clinical outcomes achieved with an alternate technique, the subannular tube insertion, by determining mean tube lifespan, cumulative incidence of post-operative events and complications, audiometric changes and risk factors associated with earlier tube extrusion in the pediatric population.

Methods: A retrospective chart review of all patients operated for subannular tube insertion between January 2007 and 2013 was conducted in a single pediatric tertiary care center.

Systems neuroscience seeks explanations for how the brain implements a wide variety of perceptual, cognitive and motor tasks. Conversely, artificial intelligence attempts to design computational systems based on the tasks they will have to solve. In artificial neural networks, the three components specified by design are the objective functions, the learning rules and the architectures.

Background: Effective communication has been linked to a reduction in adverse events and improved patient compliance. Currently in Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery (OTL-HNS) residency programs, there is limited explicit teaching of communication skills. Our objective was to implement an educational program on communication skills for residents using multisource assessment in several simulation-based contexts throughout residency.

The magnetic fields of solar-type stars are observed to cycle over decadal periods-11 years in the case of the Sun. The fields originate in the turbulent convective layers of stars and have a complex dependency upon stellar rotation rate. We have performed a set of turbulent global simulations that exhibit magnetic cycles varying systematically with stellar rotation and luminosity.

The purposes of this study were to determine the time of the recovery of poststroke abilities and to identify prognostic indicators associated with recovery time among stroke patients undergoing a rehabilitation program. A sample of 421 stroke participants admitted to a rehabilitation center was recruited from medical records that were available from January 1987 to December 1992. The mean age was 61.

The purposes of this study were to determine the time of the recovery of poststroke life habits and to identify prognostic indicators associated with recovery time among stroke patients in a rehabilitation program. A sample of 421 stroke patients who were admitted to a rehabilitation center was recruited from medical records available from January 1987 to December 1992. The relation between the achievement of independent life habits including bed mobility, transfers and ambulation, bathing activities, dressing activities, eating activities, home activities, sphincter control, and sleep with the potential covariates associated with recovery time was assessed through the analysis of survival data using the Cox maximum-likelihood proportional hazard models.
