Background: Survivors of childhood sexual abuse (CSA) often experience long-term adverse mental health effects, a trend that has been observed in research focusing on men who have sex with men (MSM), especially Black MSM.

Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate the direct and indirect effects of childhood sexual abuse on depression symptoms among Black MSM through early sexual debut, histories of incarceration, ethnic identity, and social support. In addition, we examine the role of social support and ethnic identity as mediators of depression symptoms.

Objective: To evaluate vascularity of the synovial membrane covered septum (SMS) separating the tarsocrural (TC) and proximal intertarsal (PIT) joints (Part 1) and compare two methods of transection, electrosurgical or Ferris Smith rongeur (FS rongeur) (Part 2).

Study Design: Experimental study.

Sample Population: Part 1, 10 SMS (n = 5 horses).

Therefore, providing effective non-opioid analgesics in the ED is critical. Oral acetaminophen (APAP) is commonly administered in the ED but is limited to patients tolerating oral intake.

Prevention of iatrogenic fluid overload with naloxone infusions: A patient safety initiative.

A higher number of patients admitted to hospital systems are requiring a naloxone infusion for treatment of opioid toxicity. Although naloxone is a safe antidote for the treatment of opioid toxicity, this is not without the risk of iatrogenic harm. During standard pharmacy medication safety review process, it was identified that our standard naloxone concentration protocol would deliver 4 times the standard maintenance fluid rate to our pediatric patient population.

Background: Reducing inhaled dust particles improves lung function in horses with severe asthma. Soaked hay is commonly used by owners, but its efficacy in improving lung function and inflammation has not been documented.

Objectives: To measure the effects of soaked hay and alfalfa pellets in horses with severe asthma.

The Effect of Disclosure of PrEP Use on Adherence Among African Young Women in an Open-Label PrEP Study: Findings from HPTN 082.

To develop effective PrEP adherence interventions, it is important to understand the interplay between disclosure of pre-exposure prophalxis (PrEP) use, social support, and PrEP adherence. We leveraged the HPTN 082 study conducted among 451 adolescent girls and young women (AGYW) (ages 16 to 25 years, 2016 to 2019) in South Africa and Zimbabwe. Among the 349 who had month three disclosure and PrEP adherence data, 60% (n = 206) felt supported by adults, and 89% (n = 309) disclosed PrEP use to at least one person.

Initial laboratory abnormalities included: aspartate aminotransferase (AST) and alanine transaminase (ALT) 4,222 U/L and 4,664 U/L respectively, alkaline phosphatase 215 U/L, international normalized ratio (INR) 3.2, and his model for end-stage liver disease was 37.

Objectives: To evaluate the efficacy of subcutaneous administration of dexmedetomidine/atipamezole at the Governing Vessel 20 (GV20) acupuncture point compared with other administration routes (intramuscular and intravenous) in dogs presented for orthopaedic radiographs.

Materials And Methods: Prospective, randomised, blinded, controlled clinical study. Sixty-four client-owned dogs were randomly injected with 200 μg/m of dexmedetomidine intramuscular (lumbar muscles) (n=20), intravenous (n=23) or subcutaneous at the GV20 point (n=21).

From Crashing Waves to Crashing Sodium: A Rare Case of Nearly Asymptomatic Severe Hyponatremia.

Hyponatremia refers to an abnormally low serum sodium level, and it is the most common electrolyte disorder encountered in the clinical setting. Despite its prevalence, hyponatremia can be challenging to clinically identify in some cases due to non-specific symptom presentation. In this case report, we illustrate the rare clinical course of a nearly asymptomatic patient with severe hyponatremia and discuss potential explanations for this uncommon presentation.

Iatrogenic adrenal atrophy following oral corticotherapy is not reliably identified ultrasonographically in cats.

Background: In dogs, corticosteroid administration is known to decrease adrenal gland height when measured ultrasonographically. However, comparable information is lacking in cats.

Objectives: i) Validate that the adrenal height of our control population without corticosteroid administration was similar to previous data, ii) determine effects of dose and duration of oral corticosteroid therapy on adrenal height, and iii) determine an adrenal size threshold to differentiate cats receiving corticosteroids or not.

Earlier comparative analyses provided support for the hypothesis but typically ignored variation in group size at the local scale and included proxies of predation risk rather than more direct estimates. Multiple sentinels in a group may reduce the perceived predation risk by diluting the risk and increasing collective detection, especially if sentinels monitor different areas at the same time. An Early Case of Complete Androgen Insensitivity Syndrome.

Inguinal hernias are rare in female infants, and when present, there is an increased incidence of androgen insensitivity in these infants. We present a case of bilateral inguinal hernias in a 26-day-old full-term phenotypic female. On physical exam, the patient was found to have bilateral palpable inguinal masses which were suspected to be testicular tissue on ultrasound.
