Acidic glycosphingolipid components were extracted from the opportunistic mycopathogen Aspergillus fumigatus and identified as inositol phosphorylceramide and glycosylinositol phosphorylceramides (GIPCs). Glycosphingolipids with R(f) values higher than those of monoglycosylceramides (MGCs) in normal phase HPTLC appear to be normal components of myelin.
