Objectives: Explore how the content of the articles published by the during its 100 years of existence has aligned with the key health issues of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO).

Methods: A bibliometric analysis was carried out, with visualization of its results. Information on articles published in the Journal was retrieved from PAHO's Institutional Repository for Information Sharing (IRIS) for the first 75 years and Scopus for the last 25 years, until February 2022; References to Governing Bodies documents and statements by the directors were used to establish PAHO's key themes.

Birthing ball for reducing labor pain: a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials.

Objective: Multiple factors are thought to affect a woman's sensation of pain during the process of labor. Birthing balls are round exercise balls upon which a woman sits during labor and performs different movements such as rocking back and forth and pelvic rotation. Midwives and nurses have been using birthing balls (also known as Swiss balls) to increase maternal comfort, widen the pelvic outlet, and facilitate progression of labor for women laboring without an epidural.

Validation of the Spanish version of Mackey childbirth satisfaction rating scale.

Background: The "Mackey Childbirth Satisfaction Rating Scale" (MCSRS) is a complete non-validated scale which includes the most important factors associated with maternal satisfaction. Our primary purpose was to describe the internal structure of the scale and validate the reliability and validity of concept of its Spanish version MCSRS-E.

Methods: The MCSRS was translated into Spanish, back-translated and adapted to the Spanish population.

[Randomised controlled clinical trial to determine the effects of the use of birth balls during labour].

Objective: To determine the effects of using birth balls (BB) during the first and second stage of labour, perineal integrity, perception of pain intensity, and safety.

Method: Randomised controlled trial.

Participants: 18 to 35 years, nulliparous, low-risk, at term.
