Article Synopsis
- The study aimed to evaluate the accuracy and cost-effectiveness of PET/CT in staging non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) by comparing it with histology results in 103 patients.
- PET/CT showed superior accuracy with a positive predictive value of 80% and a negative predictive value of 95%, compared to PET and CT alone, which had lower values across the board.
- The cost-effectiveness analysis indicated that using PET/CT resulted in an incremental cost of €17,412 per quality-adjusted life year (QALY), confirming it as an effective method for NSCLC staging.
