In relation to the climate policy being introduced, the search for a replacement for solid fossil fuels with renewable raw materials is ongoing. In this study, a potential biomass (sunflower husk pellet) application in the process of copper slag reduction was assessed. For the purpose of raw material characterisation, thermogravimetric tests were carried out and characteristic temperature points were determined with the use of a high-temperature microscope.

This study presents a theoretical and practical evaluation of zinc evaporation from bottom zinc dross (hard zinc) as a secondary zinc source (zinc content approximately 94-97%), which originates in the batch hot-dip galvanizing process. The thermodynamics of the zinc evaporation process were studied under the normal pressure (100 kPa) in the inert atmosphere, using argon with flow rate 90 mL/min. Samples were subjected to the evaporation process for 5, 10 and 20 min under the temperature of 700 °C and 800 °C, respectively.

Article Synopsis
  • Precipitated ammonium aluminium carbonate hydroxide (NHAl(OH)CO) is an effective precursor for nanostructured alumina (AlO), but traditional production methods are costly due to high resource demands.
  • A new and more cost-effective method involves partially neutralizing an aqueous solution of aluminum nitrate (Al(NO)3) with ammonium carbonate ((NH)CO) at a low pH, allowing for the formation of polynuclear aluminum clusters, which is great for creating thin films and nanoparticles.
  • This innovative synthesis technique enhances textural properties by adding aluminum acetate hydroxide to the aluminum solution, resulting in high surface area alumina while also being energy-efficient, producing minimal by-products, and allowing for the
