Background: Frozen shoulder is a common medical condition, but the ideal therapeutic method is yet to be determined. Our aim was to analyze the pain-relieving effect of different treatment options used for the management of this disease.
Methods: Medical records of 59 patients (22 male, 37 female, average age: 55.
Cardiovascular diseases are among the leading causes of mortality worldwide. Hypertension is a preventable risk factor leading to major cardiovascular events. We have not found a comprehensive study investigating Central and Eastern European hypertensive patients' complex metabolic status.

Temozolomide (TMZ) chemotherapy plus radiation therapy (RT), admi-mistered after debulking surgery, increased the median survival time (MST) from 12.1 months with RT alone merely to 14.

The global prevalence of childhood hypertension is increasing, yet its investigation has been rather sporadic in Eastern Europe. Therefore, our goal was to determine the prevalence of childhood hypertension and its concomitant metabolic abnormalities using data mining methods.

Research with deuterium-depleted water (DDW) in the last two decades proved that the deuterium/hydrogen ratio has a key role in cell cycle regulation and cellular metabolism. The present study aimed to investigate the possible effect of deuterium-depleted yolk (DDyolk) alone and in combination with DDW on cancer growth in two in vivo mouse models. To produce DDyolk, the drinking water of laying hens was replaced with DDW (25 ppm) for 6 weeks, resulting in a 60 ppm D level in dried egg yolk that was used as a deuterium-depleted food additive.

In the background of accelerated atherosclerosis, the most important risk factors include hypertension, age, male gender, hereditary predisposition, diabetes, obesity, smoking and lipid metabolism disorder. Arterial stiffness is a firmly established, independent predictor of cardiovascular risk.

To investigate the mechanism of influence of deuterium (D) on cell growth, expression of 236 cancer-related and 536 kinase genes were tested in deuterium-depleted (40 and 80 ppm) and deuterium-enriched (300 ppm) media compared to natural D level (150 ppm). Among genes with expression changes exceeding 30% and copy numbers over 30 (124 and 135 genes, respectively) 97.

A rendszeres testmozgás csökkenti a szív- és érrendszeri kórképek kockázatát, többek között a magas vérnyomásra, a zsíranyagcsere-eltérésekre és az elhízásra gyakorolt kedvező hatásán keresztül, továbbá független tényező a cardiovascularis halálozás szempontjából is.

The data revealed that lower deuterium concentrations corresponded to lower MiA PaCa-2 growth rate. Nuclear membrane turnover and nucleic acid synthesis rate at different D-concentrations were determined by targeted [1,2-C]-D-glucose fate associations.

Mutations in the genes that encode proteins involved in LDL uptake and catabolism, including LDL-receptor (LDLR) and apolipoprotein-B (APOB), are known to cause FH. We present the case of a severely affected FH proband with two mutations in two different causing genes and characterize her first-degree blood relatives.

Dramatic changes in the epidemiology of infections have been reported from the western world in the past decade. The proportion of severe cases is significantly elevating and clinicians now have to contend with the problem of additional and more frequent episodes of recurrences including an upward trend in the mortality rate. This situation led us to investigate the possibility of the fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT).

In the past decade, Clostridium difficile infections (CDIs) have become a major public health challenge. Their epidemiology has radically changed with a significant rise in the number of cases and an increase in severe episodes. Recurrence and failure of conventional treatments are very common.

Deliberate bladder colonization with ABU isolate 83972 has been shown to outcompete uropathogens and prevent symptomatic UTI by bacterial interference. Many ABU isolates evolved from uropathogenic ancestors and, although attenuated, may still be able to express virulence-associated factors.

In this study, our objective was to evaluate the rate of resolution of diarrhea following administration of lyophilized and resolved FMT via a nasogastric (NG) tube. We recruited 19 patients suffered from laboratory-confirmed C.

The rising popularity of medical travel and the absence of clear minimum quality requirements in this area urgently call for the development of international standards to ensure good practice and patient safety. The aim of this study is to identify the key domains in medical travel where quality standards should be established.

Aim: The aim of the authors was to investigate the possibility of the fecal microbiota transplantation and study differences, if any, in the success rate of the two different upper gastrointestinal tract method.
Method: 100 ml of fecal microbiota solution was instilled via a nasoduodenal tube in 15 cases and a nasogastric tube in 15 cases.
Serum amyloid A (SAA) is of interest as the circulating precursor of amyloid A protein, the fibrillar component of AA (secondary) amyloid deposits, and also as an extremely sensitive and rapid major acute phase protein. Serum concentrations of acute phase proteins (APPs) provide valuable information about the diagnosis and prognosis of various diseases, and thus the relevance of APPs for monitoring the health status of domestic animals is widely accepted. More importantly, the measurement of SAA concentration assists in assessing the prognosis in secondary amyloidosis, which is a common disease of geese, affecting an increasing number of animals.

The theoretical issue of the sentinel lymph node and its impact on biopsy practice have also been dealt with. In the authors' region, screening was introduced in 1999 and after a short break has been continued since 2002.

The aim of this work was to clone and express recombinant goose SAA and to produce antibody against this protein: Total RNA was isolated from goose liver and used to synthesise first strand cDNA. The coding region of the goose SAA cDNA was amplified by PCR using primers corresponding to the appropriate conservative regions of duck SAA mRNA.

Chromosome 13 aberrations, particularly in the region 13q12 approximately q14, are common events in hematological neoplasms that have a clinical significance in many cases. However, although chromosome 13 aberrations are a nonrandom event in childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), their biological and clinical associations are limited. We have studied a consecutive series of 277 cases of childhood ALL, including 33 initially at relapse, by conventional cytogenetic analysis.
