The gene of human mutant (serine-17) fibroblast interferon was isolated with the use of highly efficient oligonucleotide-directed mutagenesis. On the basis of the constructed expression plasmid pPR-IFN Ser17 a strain producing human mutant beta-interferon (VKPM V-4678) was developed. It was shown that the specific activity of the human mutant (serine-17) fibroblast interferon was 1 order of magnitude higher than that of the recombinant interferon which reaches the specific activity of natural fibroblast interferon.

A synthetic carbon sorbent (SKNP-2) was included in the treatment of 197 patients with relapsing urticaria. Courses lasted 7, 14, 20 days. The clinical effect was favourable and its efficacy increased with prolongation of the therapy course time using the enterosorbent.

Low-density lipoproteins, isolated from the serum of patients with hypercholesterolemia (dislipoproteinemia, type IIa), increased significantly the number of active and recovered rosette-forming cells (RFC) at incubation with lymphocytes of coronary patients. The use of lipoproteins, belonging to all atherogenic classes, did not essentially alter lymphocyte ability to form total E-RFC. Purified apolipoprotein B reduced lymphocyte capacity for active rosette formation.

In a study of the effect of lipoproteins of atherogenic classes on proliferative activity of peripheral lymphocytes in patients (n = 44) with ischemic heart disease (IHD) and healthy subjects (n = 16), VLDL isolated from hyperlipidemia blood were shown to have a more suppressive effect on proliferation of PHA-induced lymphocytes than those from healthy subjects. Effect analysis of VLDL isolated from patients with different hyperlipidemia types revealed that VLDL obtained from high triglyceride plasma depressed proliferation 85-75%, while VLDL withdrawn from high cholesterol plasma 45-55% (p less than 0.05).

Neutrophil absorption capacity was studied in 45 coronary patients, using immune complexes, containing various immunoglobulin classes. Neutrophil capacity for absorption increases at early stages of the disease and decreases with the progress of its duration and severity, while serum immune complex levels go up.

The work presents the data on the immunostimulating properties of neuropeptides. As revealed in this study, the leu-enkephalin level in blood sera (taken from 55 patients) inversely correlates with the intensity of the proliferative response of lymphocytes to phytohemagglutinin. In in vitro systems dalargin promotes the increase or decrease of the proliferative response of lymphocytes to phytohemagglutinin, depending on the proliferative activity of cells in response to this mitogen, and also leads to an increase in the number of rosette-forming cells.

The data based on the comparative evaluation of changes in immunological processes due to the effect of decaris, autovaccine and standard staphylococcal allergens are presented. These data indicate that such changes resulting from the clinical effectiveness of different kinds of immunotherapy are accompanied by identical changes in the immune system of patients with infectious allergic bronchial asthma. At the same time the results of this study point out that the therapeutic effectiveness of autovaccine is higher than that of decaris.

The work contains the results obtained in the study of immunological processes in the dynamics of specific hyposensitization with microbial allergens, prepared from Proteus and staphylococci, in 22 infectious allergic bronchial asthma patients sensitized to these microorganisms. The therapeutic effect of this treatment was accompanied by the activation of the processes of cellular and humoral immunity, while the aggravation of the main disease was observed in patients with a pronounced decrease in the activity of immunological processes which were unaffected by the stimulating influence of specific hyposensitization.

The results of the correlative analysis carried out in the study of the character of relationship between characteristics indicating different forms of immune response (cellular and humoral immunity, sensitization) in 30 patients with infectious allergic bronchial asthma before and after therapy with autovaccine are summarized. The analysis has revealed the features of interrelations between the characteristics under the study and pointed out that the character of relationship between different characteristics may change under the influence of autovaccinal therapy. The data thus obtained are used for elucidating the mechanism of autovaccinal therapy and for the evaluation of its efficiency.

Immunological processes in 17 patients with infectious allergic bronchial asthma accompanied by chronic respiratory tract infection were studied in dynamics resulting from the hyposensitization of the patients with autovaccine. Specific sensitization was shown to produce stable clinical remission. The therapeutic effect of this method was ensured by a simultaneous hange in non-specific cellular and humoral immunity.
