Background: Gastro-esophageal variceal hemorrhage (GEVH) is one of the major causes of life-threatening gastrointestinal bleeding in children. Medical, endoscopic, angiographic, and surgical interventions can be utilized in treatment. In this case report, we describe partial splenic artery embolization for refractory GEVH due to portal vein thrombosis.

Purpose: To determine the reference values for the shock index (SI) in postpartum patients undergoing elective cesarean delivery with regional anesthesia.
Methods: This prospective study was conducted at our tertiary center between August 1, 2023, and March 1, 2024. We calculated the reference values for the SI within the first 48 h postpartum for patients who underwent elective cesarean delivery after the 34th week of gestation.
Retroperitoneal biloma and accompanying bilioscrotum are very rare entities. A 49-year-old male patient underwent endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography procedure with the preliminary diagnosis of stone-mud in the common bile duct. On the seventh day after the procedure, diffuse air densities observed around the duodenum and biliary stent protruding beyond the lumen in the non-contrast abdominal computed tomography examination were evaluated as duodenal perforation.

Hemin activates platelets and leads to thrombosis. Agonism of the inhibitory platelet receptor ACKR3 inhibits hemin-dependent platelet activation and thrombus formation.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFBackground: Platelet receptors ACKR3 and CXCR4 play a crucial role in a variety of cardiovascular diseases. Like most chemokine receptors, CXCR4 is a G protein coupled receptor that induces platelet activation. In contrast, the atypical chemokine receptor 3 (ACKR3) lacks the ability to activate heterotrimeric G proteins and its activation leads to platelet inhibition and attenuates thrombus formation.

Purpose: Fasciotomy is a surgical procedure that involves the incision of fascial compartments in the body to relieve pressure, prevent tissue damage, and maintain blood flow. This study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of the Bogota Bag technique in closing fasciotomy wounds in patients with lower limb compartment syndrome.
Methods: A prospective cohort study was conducted between October 2022 and October 2023 to document our experience in employing the Bogota Bag technique for fasciotomy closure.
ACKR3, an atypical chemokine receptor, has been associated with prothrombotic events and the development of cardiovascular events. We designed, synthesized, and evaluated a series of novel small molecule ACKR3 agonists. Extensive structure-activity relationship studies resulted in several promising agonists with potencies ranging from the low micromolar to nanomolar range, for example, (EC = 111 nM, = 95%) and (EC = 69 nM, = 82%) in the β-arrestin-recruitment assay.

Principal component analysis (PCA) revealed distinct biochemical properties, highlighting elevated absorbance of phospholipids, amides, and lipids in PV patients compared to healthy controls. Ratios of amide I/amide II and amide I/amide III indicated alterations in protein structures.

Additionally, within the CHD group, the study explored the relationship between these parameters and mortality within six months.
Methods: Data from 68 cases of prenatally diagnosed CHD were collected from electronic medical records, excluding cases with missing data or additional comorbidities.
Background: The aim of this study was to determine the level of participation in the training of the athlete who applied to the clinic with pain by infrared thermography. Symptoms of sartorius muscle (SM) injury are like rectus femoris injuries.
Case Scenario: Grade I SM injury of a 23-year-old male football player was determined by thermographic diagnosis.
Essential thrombocythemia (ET) is a type of myeloproliferative neoplasm that increases the risk of thrombosis. To diagnose this disease, the analysis of mutations in the Janus Kinase 2 (JAK2), thrombopoietin receptor (MPL), or calreticulin (CALR) gene is recommended. Disease poses diagnostic challenges due to overlapping mutations with other neoplasms and the presence of triple-negative cases.

MRSA keratitis was induced by injecting 0.1 mL MRSA containing 1000 colony-forming units (CFU) into central cornea of right eyes of 24 New Zealand White rabbits.

Methods: A retrospective analysis was performed on 41 patients (26 females, 15 males) with necrotizing fasciitis (NF). The SII (Systemic Immune-Inflammation Index) was computed using the formula SII = (P × N)/L, where P, N, and L measure the counts of peripheral platelets, neutrophils, and lymphocytes, respectively.
Objective: The objective of this study was to evaluate and compare Optical Coherence Tomography Angiography (OCTA) parameters in patients with moderate myopia and healthy individuals retrospectively.
Methods: A total of 80 male individuals aged 18-20 years were included in the study with 40 moderate myopic and 40 healthy persons. All participants underwent detailed ocular examination including refraction, intraocular pressure (IOP), visual acuity, biomicroscopy, OCTA measurement and optic biometry measurement.
Background: The Woven EndoBridge (WEB) devices have been used for treating wide neck bifurcation aneurysms (WNBAs) with several generational enhancements to improve clinical outcomes. The original device dual-layer (WEB DL) was replaced by a single-layer (WEB SL) device in 2013. This study aimed to compare the effectiveness and safety of these devices in managing intracranial aneurysms.

Purpose: To evaluate the use of the Pentacam to analyse the presence or absence of fluid pockets under the anterior capsule and their significance in terms of surgical management and prevention of complications.
Settings: Abant İzzet Baysal University Hospital, Bolu, Turkey DESIGN: Randomized, masked, prospective design METHODS: 60 patients with mature cataracts underwent standard phacoemulsification (Phaco) and intraocular lens (IOL) implantation. Patients were divided into 3 groups.
Pancake kidney is a renal fusion anomaly with only a few reported prenatal diagnoses. Other structural anomalies beyond the urogenital system may also be associated. This study describes a dual anomaly case detected prenatally, comprising of pancake kidney and jejunal atresia.

In this study, we aimed to identify 30-day mortality risk factors and assess infectious diseases consultants' preferences for combination or monotherapy.
Methods: The study was conducted in four hospitals in Istanbul, Turkey, involving 140 adult ICU beds and 336,780 ICU-bed-days between 1 January 2014, and 31 December 2021.
Introduction: Resistance to immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICI) is a significant issue in metastatic renal cell carcinoma (mRCC), as it is in the majority of cancer types. An important deficiency in immunooncology today is the lack of a predictive factor to identify this patient group. Myeloid-derived suppressor cells (MDSC) are a type of cell that contributes to immunotherapy resistance by inhibiting T cell activity.
