Background: Supervised consumption service (SCS) use among people who inject drugs may reduce acute care utilization; however, prior studies have been limited by self-reported outcomes and dichotomous exposures.

Methods: We conducted a prospective cohort study using linked questionnaire and health administrative data among people who inject drugs in Toronto, Canada (2018-2020). Baseline SCS use frequency was defined by a participant's self-reported proportion of injections performed at an SCS over the past six months: "all/most" (≥75 %), "some" (26-74 %), "few" (1-25 %), or "none" (0 %).

This article presents a novel approach for parameters estimation of photovoltaic cells/modules using a recent optimization algorithm called quadratic interpolation optimization algorithm (QIOA). The proposed formula is dependent on variable voltage resistances (VVR) implementation of the series and shunt resistances. The variable resistances reduced from the effect of the electric field on the semiconductor conductivity should be included to get more accurate representation.

Background: Disease risk variants are likely to affect gene expression in a context- and cell-type specific manner. The membrane bound O-acyltransferase domain containing 7 (MBOAT7) rs8736 metabolic-dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD)-risk variant was recently reported to be a negative regulator of toll-like receptors (TLRs) signalling in macrophages. Whether this effect is generic or cell-type specific in immune cells is unknown.

Transforming growth factor-β (TGFβ) drives fibrosis and disease progression in a number of chronic disorders, but targeting this ubiquitously expressed cytokine may not yield a viable and safe antifibrotic therapy. Here, we sought to identify alternative ways to inhibit TGFβ signaling using human hepatic stellate cells and macrophages from humans and mice in vitro, as well as mouse models of liver, kidney, and lung fibrosis. We identified Mer tyrosine kinase (MERTK) as a TGFβ-inducible effector of fibrosis that was up-regulated during fibrosis in multiple organs in three mouse models.
