Background: Conduction velocity (CV) is a measure of the health of myocardial tissue. It can be measured by taking differences in local activation times from intracardiac electrodes. Several factors introduce error into the measurement, among which ignoring the 3-dimensional aspect is a major detriment.

The use of an engineered calcium-dependent ligand (Z) in magnetic separation applications promises improvements due to mild elution conditions, fast processability, and process integration prospects. In this work, we synthesized and evaluated three magnetic nanoparticle types immobilized with the cysteine-tagged ligand Z-cys.

Normothermic regional perfusion (NRP) and ex situ machine perfusion (es-MP) have been instrumental in improving liver transplant outcomes and graft utilization. This study examines the current landscape of liver utilization from cardiac DCD donors in the United States.

Objective: To determine whether uterus transplant is feasible and safe and results in births of healthy infants.
Design, Setting, And Participants: A case series including 20 participants with uterine-factor infertility and at least 1 functioning ovary who underwent uterus transplant in a large US tertiary care center between September 14, 2016, and August 23, 2019.
Background: The excitable gap (EG), defined as the excitable tissue between two subsequent wavefronts of depolarization, is critical for maintaining reentry that underlies deadly ventricular arrhythmias. EG in the His-Purkinje Network (HPN) plays an important role in the maintenance of electrical wave reentry that underlies these arrhythmias.
Objective: To determine if rapid His bundle pacing (HBP) during reentry reduces the amount of EG in the HPN and ventricular myocardium to suppress reentry maintenance and/or improve defibrillation efficacy.
The French maritime pine bark extract Pycnogenol is a proprietary product from Aiton. It complies with the quality specifications in the monograph "Pine extract" in the section of dietary supplements. Pycnogenol is standardized to contain 65-75% procyanidins which are a variety of biopolymers consisting of catechin and epicatechin monomeric units.

Methods: We describe the implementation and expansion strategies of a transplant-center-based A-NRP DCD program that has grown in volume, geographical reach, and donor acceptance parameters, presented as four eras.
Results: In the implementation era, two donors were attempted, and one liver graft was transplanted.
This article describes the rationale, aims, and methodology of the Accelerating Medicines Partnership® Schizophrenia (AMP® SCZ). This is the largest international collaboration to date that will develop algorithms to predict trajectories and outcomes of individuals at clinical high risk (CHR) for psychosis and to advance the development and use of novel pharmacological interventions for CHR individuals. We present a description of the participating research networks and the data processing analysis and coordination center, their processes for data harmonization across 43 sites from 13 participating countries (recruitment across North America, Australia, Europe, Asia, and South America), data flow and quality assessment processes, data analyses, and the transfer of data to the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) Data Archive (NDA) for use by the research community.

We developed a large-scale, well-characterized dataset of musculoskeletal radiographs and trained deep learning neural networks to classify radiographic projection and body side.
Methods: In this IRB-approved retrospective single-center study, a dataset of musculoskeletal radiographs from 2011 to 2019 was retrieved and manually labeled for one of 45 possible radiographic projections and the depicted body side.
Plant-derived phenolic compounds are regularly ingested as food compounds or as food supplements. Concentrations of individual compounds and metabolites are typically measured in serum or urine samples. This, however, allows no conclusion on the distribution into organs and tissues.

Depressive symptoms, risky alcohol use, and weight concerns frequently accompany cigarette smoking and may adversely affect quitting. Whether treatment for tobacco use that simultaneously addresses these issues affects cessation outcomes is uncertain.

CBRAIN is a web-based platform designed to simplify the use and accessibility of neuroimaging research tools for large-scale, collaborative studies. In this paper, we describe how CBRAIN's unique features and infrastructure were leveraged to integrate TAPAS PhysIO, an open-source MATLAB toolbox for physiological noise modeling in fMRI data.

Data resulting from environmental monitoring programs are valuable assets for natural resource managers, decision-makers, and researchers. These data are often collected to inform specific reporting needs or decisions with a specific timeframe. While program-oriented data and related publications are effective for meeting program goals, sharing well-documented data and metadata allows users to research aspects outside initial program intentions.

For example, noninvasive cardiac imaging models are used to localize the origin of cardiac arrhythmias and myocardial infarctions. The precise knowledge of a few hundred electrocardiogram (ECG) electrode positions is essential for their diagnostic value.

Background: Basic self-disturbance, or anomalous self-experiences (ASEs), is a core feature of the schizophrenia spectrum. We propose a novel method of natural language processing to quantify ASEs in spoken language by direct comparison to an inventory of self-disturbance, the Inventory of Psychotic-Like Anomalous Self-Experiences (IPASE). We hypothesized that there would be increased similarity in open-ended speech to the IPASE items in individuals with early-course psychosis (PSY) compared with healthy individuals, with clinical high-risk (CHR) individuals intermediate in similarity.

Following glucocorticoid treatment, only select hyperpigmented areas associated with inflammation, infection, or trauma improved, which thereby posed a clinical challenge to improve the patient's appearance and condition. Such results may warrant the consideration of adjunctive topical therapies to lighten the remaining areas of hyperpigmentation.

Comprehensive characterization of the potential triggers and substrate in survivors of sudden cardiac arrest has provided insights into the trigger-substrate interaction leading to reentry. Previously, a "Triangle of Arrhythmogenesis", reflecting interactions between substrate, trigger and modulating factors, has been proposed to reason about arrhythmia initiation.

While the risk factors associated with the need for tracheostomy are well established in the general critical care population, they have not yet been validated in a cohort of patients suffering severe thoracic trauma. Purpose: Artificial intelligence in computer vision has been increasingly adapted in clinical application since the implementation of neural networks, potentially providing incremental information beyond the mere detection of pathology. As its algorithmic approach propagates input variation, neural networks could be used to identify and evaluate relevant image features. In this study, we introduce a basic dataset structure and demonstrate a pertaining use case.

Background: Academic difficulties are common in adolescents with mental health problems. Although earlier childhood emotional problems, characterised by heightened anxiety and depressive symptoms are common forerunners to adolescent mental health problems, the degree to which mental health problems in childhood may contribute independently to academic difficulties has been little explored.
Methods: Data were drawn from a prospective cohort study of students in Melbourne, Australia (N = 1239).
Site differences, or systematic differences in feature distributions across multiple data-acquisition sites, are a known source of heterogeneity that may adversely affect large-scale meta- and mega-analyses of independently collected neuroimaging data. They influence nearly all multi-site imaging modalities and biomarkers, and methods to compensate for them can improve reliability and generalizability in the analysis of genetics, omics, and clinical data. The origins of statistical site effects are complex and involve both differences (scanner vendor, head coil, acquisition parameters, imaging processing) and differences in (inclusion/exclusion criteria, sample size, ancestry) between sites.
