Distance stereopsis in patients with accommodative esotropia.

Purpose: We aimed to evaluate distance stereoacuity (DS) in patients with successfully treated accommodative esotropia (AET) and its association with other clinical factors.

Methods: The medical records of 176 children with refractive AET with a follow-up period ≥ 1 year were reviewed to identify a cohort of patients who achieved a stable alignment within 4 prism diopters (PD) of orthotropia at both distance and near fixation. Age of onset, duration of misalignment, uncorrected near and distance deviation, accommodative convergence/accommodation ratio, refractive error, presence of anisometropia and amblyopia, near stereopsis were evaluated as predictors of outcome.

Effects of delayed breast reconstruction on the thoracolumbar vertebrae in patients undergoing unilateral mastectomy: A retrospective cohort study.

Background: Post-mastectomy changes vertebral column alignment. There is limited data assessing spine curvature after breast reconstruction. In this study, the effects of delayed breast reconstruction on the Cobb angle and quality of life indicator (Oswestry disability index [ODI]) were evaluated in patients undergoing unilateral mastectomy.

Posterior Pole Asymmetry Analysis in the Children with Anisometropia.

Objectives: The objectives of the study were to investigate the inter and intraocular differences in posterior pole asymmetry analysis (PPAA) with optical coherence tomography (OCT) in anisometropia, to examine the relationship between the presence of anisometropia and amblyopia and retinal thickness.

Methods: Patients between ages of 5 and 16 years with anisometropia who applied to our clinic were included in the study. Macular retinal thickness measurements were evaluated by PPAA using the posterior pole algorithm of the spectral domain-OCT device.

Management of Aberrant Left Hepatic Artery During Laparoscopic Gastrectomy and Consequences.

Aberrant left hepatic artery (ALHA) can exist in up to 25% of the population. The presence of ALHA during lymph node (LN) dissection in gastric cancer may complicate the process. In this study, we aimed to evaluate the existence rate, management, and consequences of ALHA in our laparoscopic gastrectomy series.

Choroidal and Macular Thickness in Eyes with Amblyopia.

Objectives: This study was performed to assess and analyze the retinal and choroidal thickness in amblyopic eyes using spectral-domain optical coherence tomography and enhanced depth imaging optical coherence tomography.

Methods: A total of 67 children with amblyopia and 31 age- and gender-matched healthy non-amblyopic control subjects were enrolled in the study. The 67 amblyopic children were divided into 3 groups: hypermetropic amblyopia (Group 1).

Factors Affecting Binocular Sensorial Function in Accommodative Esotropia.

Objectives: This study was an assessment of factors related to the development and maintenance of binocular sensory function after successful alignment of accommodative esotropia (AE).

Methods: A total of 107 patients aged <12 years with ≥6 months follow-up were included in the study. The variables of age at onset of deviation, duration of deviation before treatment, the amount of uncorrected distance and near deviation, hyperopia, anisometropia, and accommodative convergence to accommodation ratio (AC/A) were evaluated.

The role of laparoscopic staging for the management of gastric cancer.

AİM Staging laparoscopy enables us to perform palliative treatment, neo-adjuvant therapy for curative resection or direct curative resection and making a decision with minimal morbidity by avoiding from unnecessary laparotomies. In the present study, the importance of staging lapafoscopy was retrospectively investigated by using clinical and pathologic data. METHODS Data of 70 out of 350 patients who underwent diagnostic laparoscopy due to gastric cancer at Surgical Oncology department between August 2013 and January 2020 were retrospectively analyzed.

Relationship between lymphovascular invasion and molecular subtypes in invasive breast cancer.

Purpose: The aim of this study is to evaluate the relation between LVI and molecular subtypes in invasive breast cancers and to find out whether LVI which is a histopathologic indicator has a role in subtype classification or not.

Physical Effects of Unilateral Mastectomy on Spine Deformity.

Objective: Mastectomy is known to effect body posture after a change in the center of gravity of women due to a missing breast. Although previous studies on short-term postural changes in mastectomy patients using photogrammetry or Moiré topography suggested ipsilateral inclination of the trunk, our clinical observations during breast reconstruction surgeries indicated a contralateral shoulder elevation in women with unilateral mastectomy. Because the change in body posture can affect spinal alignment, we aimed to evaluate the long-term physical effects of unilateral mastectomy on spine deformity by radiographic examination.

Influences of electroosmosis and electrophoresis on permeate flux and membrane fouling in submerged membrane bioreactors (SMBRs).

The objective of this study was to investigate the influences of electroosmosis (EO) and electrophoresis (EP) on the permeate flux in submerged membrane bioreactors. When a polymeric membrane is placed in between an anode and a cathode, both EO and EP occur simultaneously, causing enhancement in flux. Results showed that after 150 min of filtration, the permeate fluxes were 60, 115, 175 and 260 L/m(2)/h at 0, 30, 40 and 50 V, respectively.

The results of pars plana vitrectomy and silicone oil tamponade for endophthalmitis after intravitreal injections.

To report the role of early vitrectomy and silicone oil tamponade in acute endophthalmitis following intravitreal injection. Medical records of eight patients who presented with acute endophthalmitis after intravitreal injection of different drugs were retrospectively reviewed. Initial treatment consisted of vitreous tap with cultures and injection of intravitreal antibiotics, with the patients subsequently undergoing pars plana vitrectomy and silicone oil tamponade within 24 h following initial vitreous tap.
