Objectives: Curative treatment of oligometastatic pulmonary disease aims at eradication of all metastases. Radiofrequency ablation (RFA) has been shown to be an efficient method and the frequency of local tumor progression (LTP) should be minimized. The objective of this study was to determine the morphological and treatment-related risk factors for LTP after RFA of pulmonary metastases.

Osteoradionecrosis of the Occipitocervical Junction After Radiation for Head and Neck Cancer: A Report of 8 Cases.

Background: Osteoradionecrosis (ORN) refers to the degenerative changes seen in bone after local radiation, particularly in head and neck cancer. ORN can present as neck or facial pain and may be confused with tumor recurrence. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and positron emission tomography (PET) scans are often inconclusive, requiring percutaneous biopsy to differentiate ORN from infection and recurrent disease.

A comparison of the effects of platelet-rich plasma and demineralized bone matrix on critical bone defects: An experimental study on rats.

Background: Delayed union of fractured bone is one of the main problems of orthopedics and traumatology practice. It was hypothesized that the beneficial effects of allogeneic platelet-rich plasma (PRP) would be valuable in the treatment of segmental bone defects. This study is a comparison of the effects of demineralized bone matrix (DBM) and PRP in a segmental bone defect model.

Results of a multicenter phase I dose-finding trial of hyperthermic intraperitoneal cisplatin after neoadjuvant chemotherapy and complete cytoreductive surgery and followed by maintenance bevacizumab in initially unresectable ovarian cancer.

Purpose: Hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) may improve the outcome of patients with initially unresectable ovarian cancer who are eligible for complete cytoreductive surgery (CCRS) after neoadjuvant chemotherapy. The main objective of this multicenter phase-I study was to identify the recommended dose of cisplatin for HIPEC at CCRS after neoadjuvant carboplatin and paclitaxel (CP).

Methods: Patients were treated with 6cycles of CP followed by CCRS and HIPEC using cisplatin heated for one hour at 42°C+/-1°C.

Traction table versus manual traction in the intramedullary nailing of unstable intertrochanteric fractures: A prospective randomized trial.

Introduction: The purpose of this prospective randomized study was to compare traction table with manual traction for the reduction and nailing of unstable intertrochanteric femur fractures.

Design: Prospective, randomized, two-center trial.

Materials And Methods: 72 elderly patients with AO/OTA 31A2 and 31A3 proximal femur fractures were randomized to undergo surgery with either manual traction (MT) or traction table (TT) facilitated intramedullary nailing.

The protective effect of vitamin E against changes in fatty acid composition of phospholipid subclasses in gill tissue of Oreochromis niloticus exposed to deltamethrin.

The effects of deltamethrin on the fatty acid composition of phospholipid subclasses (phosphatidylchlonine (PC), phosphatidylethanolamine (PE), phosphatidylinositole (PI) and phosphatidylserine (PS)) in gill tissue of Oreochromis niloticus (Perciformes: Cichlidae) and the possible protective effect of vitamin E against deltamethrin were determined by gas chromatography. Central patellar (CP) portal is an accessory portal in arthroscopic knee surgery, which generally is considered to be safe. In this cross sectional study, we aimed to delineate the clinical and radiological outcome of patellar tendon (PT) and Hoffa's fat pad after the use of this approach. From our hospital records, patients who underwent arthroscopy via CP portal were identified and were invited for the study.

Elephantiasis nostras verrucosa complicated with chronic tibial osteomyelitis.

Elephantiasis nostras verrucosa represents an infrequent clinical entity with cutaneous changes characterized by dermal fibrosis, hyperkeratotic verrucous and papillamotous lesions resulting from chronic non-filarial lymphedema secondary to infections, surgeries, tumor obstruction, radiation, congestive heart failure, and obesity. Although recurrent streptococcal lymphangitis is believed to play a critical role in the origin of elephantiasis nostras verrucosa, the exact pathogenesis of the disorder is not yet clear. Therapeutic efforts should aim to reduce lymph stasis, which will also lead to improvement of the cutaneous changes but unfortunately there is no specific treatment for advanced cases.

Anterior sacral meningocele. A case report.

A case of anterior sacral meningocele in a 6-year-old girl is reported. The laminotomies of L5, S1, and S2 vertebrae were performed through a median posterior approach. The communication between the subarachnoid space and the meningocele was closed using dural fibrin patch, which has not yet been described in the literature.

[The coexistence of fractures of the capitellum and the radial head: a rare case].

The coexistence of fractures of the capitellum and the radial head in the elbow joint is a rare entity. A 36-year-old man presented with complaints of pain, swelling, and limited range of motion in the right elbow after a fall. Radiography, computed tomography, and three-dimensional reconstruction of computed tomography images revealed displaced and comminuted fractures in the capitellum and the radial head.
