Goss's bacterial wilt and leaf blight (Goss's wilt) of corn is the most important corn disease in North Dakota (ND), and yield loss due to the disease has not been reliably quantified in northern corn growing regions. To help quantify the amount of yield loss caused by Goss's wilt, a total of six field experiments were conducted from 2015 to 2017. Methods And Results: Water samples were collected from streams in 24 well-characterized watersheds during baseflow to analyse for the levels of faecal indicators Escherichia coli and enterococci. The watersheds represent a gradient of land-use conditions from low to high density of septic systems, as well as developed to undeveloped uses.
During 1992, a multivirus epidemic reduced tomato production by as much as 25% in the major tomato-growing region of Alabama. Estimated yield losses of 100% resulted from the epidemic in over 250 ha in two counties of North Alabama. Cucumber mosaic cucumovirus (CMV), alone or in combination with potato potyvirus Y (PVY) and/or tobacco etch potyvirus (TEV), was responsible for the crop failure.
