Sex differences in patterns of cortical thickness and neuropsychiatric symptom (NPS) burden were examined among individuals with Alzheimer's disease (AD) and two copies (homozygote carriers) of the e4 allele of the apolipoprotein gene (APOE). A total of 752 participants with a clinical etiologic diagnosis of AD were selected from the National Alzheimer's Coordinating Center (NACC) database. Bayesian multilevel regression was used to examine both the within- and between-sex differences in gray-matter cortical thickness and total NPS burden associated with APOE homozygosity.

Methods: A prospective, observational cohort study was conducted on athletes participating across 13 university sports at a single academic institute; blood was drawn from 52 athletes, comprised of 22 athletes (n = 11 male, n = 11 female) within seven days of a physician-diagnosed SRC, and 30 healthy athletes (n = 18 female, n = 12 male) at the beginning of their competitive season. Blood samples were stimulated for 24 h under two conditions: (1) lipopolysaccharide (lps, 100ng/mL) or (2) resiquimod (R848, 1uM) using the TruCulture® system.
Importance: A rule prohibiting a direct hit to the lateral side of the head (ie, Rule 48-Illegal Check to the Head) was introduced in the National Hockey League (NHL) in the 2010-2011 season and refined in the 2011-2012 season to widen the application to include direct contact to all areas of the head.
Objective: To compare the incidence and proportion of concussions that occurred following hits to the head before and after the implementation of Rule 48.
Design, Setting, And Participants: This retrospective cohort study used a before and after design to evaluate concussions among NHL players in regular season games.
Background: Accessible and efficient opportunities for health professional faculty to hone feedback skills are limited. In addition, feedback models to apply to the objective structured clinical examination (OSCE) setting are lacking.
Approach: Annually, paediatric interns from Children's National Hospital and Walter Reed National Military Medical Center participate in an OSCE, which includes faculty observation and immediate feedback to trainees.

Focusing on distributed working memory, we show that a rigorous description of bifurcation in space describes the emergence of modularity. A connectome-based model of monkey cortex displays bifurcation in space during decision-making and working memory, demonstrating this new concept's generality. In a generative model and multi-regional cortex models of both macaque monkey and mouse, we found an inverted-V-shaped profile of neuronal timescales across the cortical hierarchy during working memory, providing an experimentally testable prediction of modularity.

Their breakpoints are clustered within cytobands Xq13-Xq21, 80% of them in Xq21, and usually, no gene disruption can be associated with POI phenotype. As deletions within Xq21 do not cause POI, and since different breakpoints and translocations with different autosomes lead to this same gonadal phenotype, a "position effect" is hypothesized as a possible mechanism underlying POI pathogenesis.
