Treatment-oriented language is used by physicians to convey to patients that treatment is available for their cancer (eg, "our usual treatment for this is…," "we can treat this," "your cancer is still treatable"). For patients who have incurable cancer, especially for patients with a poor prognosis or who are at the end of life, it is important to understand how physicians conceptualize and use this "everyday" clinical language. We conducted a qualitative interview study with a multidisciplinary group of physicians (n = 30) who may care for patients with cancer at different points in their clinical course, from diagnosis to end of life.

In a global phase 3 study, talazoparib plus enzalutamide significantly improved progression-free survival in patients with HRR-deficient metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC).
Objectives: This article reviews the role of oncology nurses and advanced practice providers (APPs) in administering talazoparib plus enzalutamide in patients with mCRPC.
Timely identification of fetal conditions enables comprehensive evaluation, counseling, postnatal planning, and prenatal treatments. This study assessed the existing evidence on how social determinants of health (SDOH) influence diagnosis timing of fetal conditions appropriate for care in fetal care centers (FCCs). Eligible studies were conducted in the U.

A secondary objective was to assess the effectiveness of interventions in reducing health-related stigma.
Methods: A search was conducted on OVID MEDLINE, OVID APA PsycINFO, EBSCO CINAHL Complete, Web of Science, and Cochrane Central in July 2023 for articles that report the development and/or testing of health-related stigma-reduction interventions among adults with NCDs.
Background: The American Society of Transplant Surgeons convened a multidisciplinary working group to address operational, ethical, and legal considerations surrounding normothermic regional perfusion (NRP) procurement.
Methods: The working group, comprising members from American Society of Transplant Surgeons and AST across various disciplines including transplant surgery, hepatology, critical care, and bioethics, collaborated to formulate recommendations and guidance for NRP procurement.
Results: The following topics were identified by the group as essential standards that need to be addressed for ethical, legal, and operational conformance: terminology; conceptualization of death in the context of NRP; and communication, logistics, and training and competency.
Delays and risks associated with neurosurgical biopsies preclude timely diagnosis and treatment of central nervous system (CNS) lymphoma and other CNS neoplasms. We prospectively integrated targeted rapid genotyping of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) into the evaluation of 70 patients with CNS lesions of unknown cause. Participants underwent genotyping of CSF-derived DNA using a quantitative polymerase chain reaction-based approach for parallel detection of single-nucleotide variants in the MYD88, TERT promoter, IDH1, IDH2, BRAF, and H3F3A genes within 80 minutes of sample acquisition.

This scoping review sought to understand the associations between social context and experiences during pregnancy and birth, biological indicators of stress and weathering, and perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMADs). A scoping review was performed using PRISMA-ScR guidance and JBI scoping review methodology.

Methods: Six databases (OVIDMEDLINE, OVIDEMBASE, OVID APA PsycINFO, Web of Science, Cochrane Central Registry of Controlled Trials, and EBSCO CINAHL Complete) were searched through January 2023. Research team members independently performed screening of abstracts and full texts, data abstraction, and risk assessment.
Introduction: Active-duty servicewomen and veterans make up nearly 20% of the United States military and may experience trauma specific to military service. Military-specific trauma includes combat deployment and military sexual trauma, exposure to which may result in posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). The purpose of this scoping review is to examine the extent to which military trauma exposures impact the pregnancy outcomes of active-duty servicewomen and women veterans.

Hospital culture and institutional structures (eg, policies, practices, protocols, resources) might contribute to potentially nonbeneficial high-intensity life-sustaining treatments near the end of life.
Objective: To understand the role of hospital culture in the everyday dynamics of high-intensity end-of-life care.
Objectives: Hedge language is a category of language that refers to words or phrases that make statements "fuzzier." We sought to understand how physicians use hedge language during goals-of-care conferences in the ICU.
Design: Secondary analysis of transcripts of audio-recorded goals-of-care conferences in the ICU.
Aim: To synthesize quantitative research evidence on the association between type 2 diabetes (T2D) stigma and psychological, behavioral, and clinical outcomes.
Methods: We searched APA PsycINFO, Cochrane Central, Scopus, Web of Science, Medline, CINAHL and EMBASE through November 2022. Peer-reviewed observational studies examining the association between T2D stigma and psychological, behavioral, and/or clinical outcomes were eligible for inclusion.
