The study analyses scientific knowledge circulation between Brazil and the United States, drawing on Rockefeller Foundation's funding to Escola Paulista de Medicina to modernize medical training. The chosen initial chronological landmark is 1956, when the foundation started funding the Brazilian institution, and the final year is 1962, deadline for spending the grants. The study's sources are dossiers collected at Rockefeller Archive Center, analyzed drawing on the evidential paradigm.

In addition, the Ki-67 index was also assessed.
Methods: Seventy-four patients (37 females) with pituitary adenomas were included, with preoperative peripheral blood collected in 29 cases.
Organotin compounds (OTs) used to be the most widely used biocide in antifouling paint systems, but the International Maritime Organization (IMO) banned them because of their high environmental toxicity to non-target organisms. Currently, at least 25 active ingredients are being employed as biocides in antifouling paint formulations. In the present study, silicone rubber-based passive sampling was used to determine the freely dissolved concentrations (C) of 6 OTs and 4 booster biocides in the water column at the entrance of Santos Port's main navigation channel, the largest Port of South America (southeastern Brazil).

Introduction: It is unclear the number of times a screwdriver may be reused without loosening its efficacy or inducing damage to implant screws while keeping appropriate torque values.
Objective: Evaluate the effect of the screwdriver and internal threads on the tightening efficacy by assessing the reverse torque value (RTV).
Methods: The efficacy was tested with four groups of screws: two titanium groups and two gold-platted (n=5).

Background: T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T-ALL) remains understudied compared to B-cell ALL, especially in Latin America. Different biology and response to chemotherapy have been described.
Methods: This retrospective multi-site cohort study analyzed data from 152 newly diagnosed T-ALL patients aged 15 years and above, between January 2010 and June 2022.

: Tuberculosis continues to be a significant global health concern, causing 1.3 million deaths in 2022, particularly affecting children under 5 years old. The Bacillus Calmette-Guérin (BCG) vaccine, developed in 1921, remains the primary defense against tuberculosis but requires modernized production methods.

The objective of this study was to determine whether resident-facility language concordance/discordance is associated with the odds of potentially inappropriate prescribing of antipsychotics (PIP-AP) in LTC.
Methods: We conducted a population-based, retrospective cohort study of LTC residents in Ontario, Canada from 2010 to 2019.

Background: Noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) predominantly affect adults, but pathophysiological changes begin decades earlier, as a continuum, with initial events apparent in adolescence. Hence, early identification and intervention are crucial for the prevention and management of NCDs. We investigated the complex network of socioeconomic, behavioral, and metabolic factors associated with the presence of NCD in Brazilian adolescents.

Aims: Degenerative mitral stenosis (DMS) is due to degenerative mitral annular calcification (MAC) and valvular calcification. However, DMS impacts on the outcome, and therefore, potential treatment needs are poorly known. We aimed at evaluating survival after DMS diagnosis by Doppler echocardiography in routine practice.

Method: Cross-sectional, analytical study carried out in the ICU of a private hospital. All patients over the age of 18 with a diagnosis of COVID-19 admitted from September 2020 to June 2021 were included.
Oocyte cryopreservation is not yet considered a reliable technique since it can reduce the quality and survival of oocytes in several species. This study determined the effect of different concentrations of antifreeze protein I (AFP I) on the vitrification solution of immature cat oocytes. For this, oocytes were randomly distributed in three groups and vitrified with 0 μg/mL (G0, 0 μM); 0.

Lung cancer is one of the most commonly diagnosed cancers in Canada and a leading cause of cancer mortality. Lung cancer also affects First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples significantly in Canada, which deserves further investigation as there is a literature gap on this topic. We sought to develop a deeper understanding of lung cancer diagnosis, incidence, mortality, and survival in First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples in Canada.

Understanding the phenotypic consequences of AR allelic variants that disrupt the activation function 2 (AF2) region is essential to grasping its clinical significance.
Objectives: This study aims to provide insights into the phenotypic characteristics and clinical impact of AR mutations affecting the AF2 region in AIS patients.
Neurodegenerative diseases involve neuroinflammation and a loss of neurons, leading to disability and death. Hence, the research into new therapies has been focused on the modulation of the inflammatory response mainly by microglia/macrophages. The extracts and metabolites of marine sponges have been presented as anti-inflammatory.
