Glyphosate, a pesticide commonly found in aquatic ecosystems, affects this habitat and nontarget organisms such as fish. The increase in water temperature, linked to factors such as climate change, poses a considerable threat. Despite extensive ecotoxicological research, we still do not know the real individual and specific consequences of continued exposure to glyphosate and high temperatures, simulating a scenario where the aquatic environment remains contaminated and temperatures continue to rise.

However, no studies have examined the interaction between SA and salinity in , a species rich in bioactive molecules. Therefore, we aimed to evaluate the effect of SA application on under different salinity levels.

High blood pressure affects more than one billion people worldwide and is considered a high-risk factor for cardiovascular diseases. Several studies have correlated antihypertensive activity with the total phenolic content present in the plants.

Negative perceptions, inadequate understanding, and access barriers have been associated with decreased medication adherence. Manaus is the largest city in the Brazilian Amazon, where the incidence of HIV/AIDS is high, and the rates of adherence to the antiretroviral treatment for HIV and PrEP are low.

Patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) are at a high risk of severe COVID-19 outcomes, especially those under immunosuppression or with associated comorbidities. However, few studies have assessed the safety of the COVID-19 vaccine in patients with RA.

Despite the evidence that HO mitigates salt stress and improves post-harvest quality on several species, its effects on radish were not investigated so far. Thus, the objective of this study was to evaluate the exogenous application of HO on salt stress mitigation of radish growth, physiology, and post-harvest quality.

Despite several studies regarding coffee responses to abiotic stresses, transcriptome modulation due to simultaneous stresses remains poorly understood. This study unravels transcriptomic responses under the combined action of drought and temperature in leaves from the two most traded species: cv.

Objective: To analyze the reliability, measurement error, and responsiveness of the Voice Handicap Index (VHI) for measuring voice handicap in individuals with voice disorders.
Methods: This systematic review followed the recommendations of the COnsensus-based Standards for the Selection of Health Measurement INstruments. Studies that validated the VHI, analyzed the measurement properties of reliability, measurement error, or responsiveness, and had dysphonic individuals as the study population were included.
In this chapter, we report advances in tissue culture applied to Passiflora. We present reproducible protocols for somatic embryogenesis, endosperm-derived triploid production, and genetic transformation for such species knowledge generated by our research team and collaborators in the last 20 years. Our research group has pioneered the work on passion fruit somatic embryogenesis, and we directed efforts to characterize several aspects of this morphogenic pathway.

After surface sterilization, explants are inoculated in test tubes containing 15 mL of Murashige and Skoog (MS) medium without growth regulators. Cultures are maintained under 35 μmol m s irradiance, a 16/8-h light/dark light regime, at 26 ± 2 °C.

Despite being marketed as safe by the tobacco industry, the notable absence of regulation in their composition is evident. Both the generated fluids and aerosol exhibit a wide variety of substances that are not yet fully identified.

Only two old drugs are currently available, nifurtimox and benznidazole (Bz) but they exhibit unwanted side effects and display a weak activity in the late chronic phase of the disease. In this context, we evaluated the activity of a series of aryl-pyrazolone derivatives against T cruzi, using both bloodstream trypomastigote and intracellular amastigote forms of the parasite.

Anthropogenic activities are the main sources of soil, air, and water pollution by metals, including cadmium (Cd), lead (Pb), chromium (Cr), the metalloid arsenic (As), magnesium (Mg), zinc (Zn), and copper (Cu). The goal of this study was to assess the presence and concentration of toxic (As, Cd, Pb, and Cr) and essential metals (Mg, Zn, and Cu) in the liver and kidneys from 96 free-ranging rattlesnakes (Crotalus durissus) from Minas Gerais (Brazil). Bioaccumulation of Cd and Pb were significantly higher in males and heavier rattlesnakes (those with body weight above the average of the study population).

It has also been theorized whether deforestation controls the decline of DOM. In this study, we collected soil samples from thirty sites across different regions of Brazil's Legal Amazon, and we investigated the trade-offs among soil physical-chemical properties and DOM chemodiversity.

Current therapies rely on old and expensive drugs, against which the parasites have acquired considerable resistance. Methods: This scoping review is the first part of a larger study. The electronic search was carried out by mapping the references in PubMed/Medline, LILACS/BVS, Scopus, Web of Science, EMBASE, and the Cochrane Library, and the manual search was carried out in the grey literature.
Oropharyngeal dysphagia (OD) is a swallowing disorder that involves difficulty in safely passing the food bolus from the oral cavity to the stomach. OD is a common problem in children with congenital Zika virus syndrome (CZS). In this case series, we describe the clinical and acoustic alterations of swallowing in children exposed to the Zika virus during pregnancy in a cohort from Amazonas, Brazil.

For this, the Regional Ocean Model System was used to simulate the hydrodynamic fields in a high-resolution nested grid, where a model of lagrangian floats, in a good approximation of the larvae properties and considering massive planulation events, was coupled with surface larval release from the Campos Basin area.

The Renin-Angiotensin-Aldosterone System (RAAS) is a primary target for hypertension treatment, and it is primarily treated through drugs that inhibit the Angiotensin I-Converting Enzyme (ACE). In addition to pharmacological treatment, various plants are recommended in traditional medicine for blood pressure regulation.

Mandacaru is a cactus with great socioeconomic potential, but lack of information about its cultivation hinders its domestication. Here, we aimed to evaluate the acclimatization and vegetative development of mandacaru under different substrates and irrigation levels. For this, seeds inoculated in vitro were grown for 120 days, being transplanted to pots containing four types of substrate (S1-caatinga soil + gravel; S2-washed sand + organic matter + soil + charcoal; S3-washed sand + cattle manure + soil + sand; S4-commercial organic substrate).
