High-energy nuclear collisions create a quark-gluon plasma, whose initial condition and subsequent expansion vary from event to event, impacting the distribution of the eventwise average transverse momentum [P([p_{T}])]. Disentangling the contributions from fluctuations in the nuclear overlap size (geometrical component) and other sources at a fixed size (intrinsic component) remains a challenge. This problem is addressed by measuring the mean, variance, and skewness of P([p_{T}]) in ^{208}Pb+^{208}Pb and ^{129}Xe+^{129}Xe collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=5.

It is therefore important to validate and understand the performance of the components to achieve high rates of transformation and gene editing. Here, we have made a direct comparison of different CRISPR/Cas9 guide systems to target the genome in three cereal species.

Purpose: To conduct an integrative review of extant literature on prison nursery programs in the United States.
Background: About 4-10% of U.S.
BACKGROUNDThe toxic accumulation of phenylalanine (Phe) in the brain underlies the neurological presentation of phenylketonuria (PKU). Solute carrier family 6 member 19 (SLC6A19) is the major transporter responsible for the (re)absorption of Phe in the kidney and intestine. Here, we describe the characterization of the first small molecule SLC6A19 inhibitor to enter clinical development for the treatment of PKU.

Methods: SQ31f was synthesized by a simplified synthesis protocol, and its effect on growth inhibition of fast- and slow-growing NTM and clinical isolates, whole-cell ATP depletion, ex vivo macrophages and its potency in combination with other antibiotics were evaluated. Molecular docking studies were employed to assess SQ31f's binding mode.
A search for the exclusive hadronic decays W^{±}→π^{±}γ, W^{±}→K^{±}γ, and W^{±}→ρ^{±}γ is performed using up to 140 fb^{-1} of proton-proton collisions recorded with the ATLAS detector at a center-of-mass energy of sqrt[s]=13 TeV. If observed, these rare processes would provide a unique test bench for the quantum chromodynamics factorization formalism used to calculate cross sections at colliders. Additionally, at future colliders, these decays could offer a new way to measure the W boson mass through fully reconstructed decay products.

AAV vectors are mainstream delivery platforms in gene therapy, yet AAV-mediated gene transfer to adipose tissue is underdeveloped due to low efficiency of natural AAVs. We previously demonstrated that an engineered capsid Rec2 displayed improved adipo-tropism but with the caveat of liver transduction. To generate highly adipo-tropic capsid, we modified Rec2 capsid by site-specific mutagenesis and found the variant V7 with F503Y, Y708D and K709I substitution to harbor highly selective adipo-tropism while diminishing liver transduction.

A classroom discussion gave rise to our concept of using hydroxylamines as a form of "tethered nitrogen" for alkaloid synthesis. The "tether" temporarily connects a nucleophilic nitrogen atom to the substrate, rendering an intermolecular reaction intramolecular, thus providing stereo- and regiochemical control for C-N bond formation.

At 95% confidence level (CL), the upper limit on the production rate is 2.9 times the standard model (SM) prediction, with an expected limit of 2.

The dataset used corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 140 fb^{-1} of proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV recorded by the ATLAS detector. Two fiducial regions with an enhanced presence of events featuring two longitudinally polarized bosons are defined.

There is no available licensed therapeutic vaccine that shortens active tuberculosis (TB) disease drug treatment and prevents relapse, despite the World Health Organization's calls. Here, we show that an intranasal DNA vaccine containing a fusion of the stringent response gene with the gene encoding the immature dendritic cell-targeting chemokine, MIP-3α/CCL20, shortens the duration of curative TB treatment in immunocompetent mice.

While generally curable, TB requires a lengthy and complex antibiotic regimen, due in large part to bacteria that can shift to a persistent state in the presence of antibiotic pressure. Rel is the primary enzyme regulating the stringent response, which contributes to the metabolic shift of Mtb to a persistent state.

While commonly afflicting adults, cases of HZ in paediatric patients are infrequently reported. Such cases are predominantly reported in children who have had prior exposure to VZV, either during pregnancy, early childhood or have been vaccinated with live attenuated VZV.

Retrospectively enquiring with adults about their experience of ACEs to inform support provision is an emerging intervention across services/countries, however little is known about the processes of implementation.
Objectives: The study aimed to examine the drivers to successful implementation of ACE enquiry.
Statistical combinations of searches for charginos and neutralinos using various decay channels are performed using 139 fb^{-1} of pp collision data at sqrt[s]=13 TeV with the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. Searches targeting pure-wino chargino pair production, pure-wino chargino-neutralino production, or Higgsino production decaying via standard model W, Z, or h bosons are combined to extend the mass reach to the produced supersymmetric particles by 30-100 GeV. The depth of the sensitivity of the original searches is also improved by the combinations, lowering the 95% C.

ATP binding cassette subfamily B member 1 (ABCB1) transporter overexpression in tumors contributes to resistance, yet current ABCB1 inhibitors have been unsuccessful in clinical trials. To address this challenge, we propose a new strategy using tryptophan as a lead molecule for developing ABCB1 inhibitors.
