The near-Earth asteroid (162173) Ryugu, the target of Hayabusa2 space mission, was observed via both orbiter and the lander instruments. The infrared radiometer on the MASCOT lander (MARA) is the only instrument providing spectrally resolved mid-infrared (MIR) data, which is crucial for establishing a link between the asteroid material and meteorites found on Earth. IoT-enabled devices are making it easier and cheaper than ever to capture in situ environmental data and deliver these data-in the form of graphical visualisations-to farmers in a matter of seconds. In this work we describe an aquaculture focused environmental monitoring network consisting of LoRaWAN-enabled atmospheric and marine sensors attached to buoys on Clyde River, located on the South Coast of New South Wales, Australia. This sensor network provides oyster farmers operating on the river with the capacity to make informed, accurate and rapid decisions that enhance their ability to respond to adverse environmental events-typically flooding and heat waves.

The evolution of risk identification and ultimately the public and private responses that have become known collectively as the "opioid crisis" is an important case study in risk management due to the reach and magnitude of its impacts. This article examines a number of "signals" related to opioid risks using the social amplification of risk framework (SARF) to investigate a limited set of public-sector activities and policy responses. We evaluate whether the SARF presents an effective lens to examine the serious shortcomings of risk management of opioid use, which has a history of risk attenuation and, more recently, evidence of risk amplification.

We describe the synthesis and electronic properties of new π-conjugated small molecules and polymers that combine the linear intramolecular conjugation pathways commonly associated with organic electronic materials with the emerging properties of radial conjugation found in cycloparaphenylenes (CPPs) and other curved π-surfaces. Using arylene ethynylenes as prototypical linear segments and [6]/[8]CPP as the radial segments, we demonstrate the formation of new electronic states that are not simply additive responses from the individual components. Quantum chemical calculations of model oligomeric structures reveal these electronic processes to arise from the hybrid nature of wave function delocalization over the linear and radial contributors in the photophysically relevant electronic states.

We report the synthesis and characterization of P-phenyl modified phosphorus- and nitrogen-containing phosphaquinolinone heterocycles. The change from -OPh to -Ph results in a marked increase in the quantum yield of the scaffold as well as a moderate red-shifting of the emission.
