Background: Congenital nephrotic syndrome (CNS) is a rare but serious condition which affects neonates and is caused by monogenic defects of glomerular structural proteins or congenital viral infections. Several reports have established a causal relationship between human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) intrauterine infection and CNS, but thorough study assessing parameters has not yet been done.

We demonstrate silicon-based $p \text{-} n \text{-} p$p-n-p floating-base GeSn heterojunction phototransistors with enhanced optical responsivity for efficient short-wave infrared (SWIR) photodetection. The narrow-bandgap GeSn active layer sandwiched between the $p \text{-} {\rm Ge}$p-Ge collector and $n \text{-} {\rm Ge}$n-Ge base effectively extends the photodetection range in the SWIR range, and the internal gain amplifies the optical response by a factor of more than three at a low driving voltage of 0.4 V compared to that of a reference GeSn $p \text{-} i \text{-} n$p-i-n photodetector (PD).

Growth hormone (GH) facilitates therapy resistance in the cancers of breast, colon, endometrium, and melanoma. The GH-stimulated pathways responsible for this resistance were identified as suppression of apoptosis, induction of epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT), and upregulated drug efflux by increased expression of ATP-binding cassette containing multidrug efflux pumps (ABC-transporters). In extremely drug-resistant melanoma, ABC-transporters have also been reported to mediate drug sequestration in intracellular melanosomes, thereby reducing drug efficacy.

The monolayer hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN) nanosheet is transferred onto an indium tin oxide (ITO)-coated glass substrate. This h-BN slide is placed together with a conventional planar-aligning polyimide (PI) slide to fabricate a liquid crystal (LC) cell, in which the LC achieves uniform planar alignment. The effective polar anchoring strength coefficient of this h-BN-based hybrid LC device is found to increase significantly compared to that of a standard PI/PI LC device.
