Background: Frozen fruits and vegetables (FV) are convenient, cost-effective, reduce food waste, and can be just as nutritious as their fresh counterparts. Despite these numerous advantages, it is unclear which consumer segments are more likely to purchase frozen FV, especially compared with fresh, canned, or dried FV, which could help inform targeted nutrition education interventions.

Objective: The objective of this study is to explore sociodemographic factors associated with increased or decreased odds of purchasing frozen, fresh, canned, and dried FV in a nationally representative sample.

Currently, the in vivo distribution of drugs is investigated by non-spatial quantitative techniques. Unlabelled: We proposed a new water-soluble rhenium diseleno-ether compound (with one atom of Re and two atoms of Se) and investigated the uptake of Re into the nucleus of malignant cells in culture exposed to the compound for 48 h and its efflux from the nucleus after a post-exposure period of 48 h, as DNA is the main target of Re. We also studied the distribution of both Re and Se in the main organs after an oral administration of 10 or 40 mg/kg Re diseleno-ether to mice for four weeks, five days-a-week.

We present terahertz (THz) lenses made of highly refracting polymeric compounds which provide a better focusing performance and an increased functionality in comparison to conventional THz lenses. Using mixtures consisting of polypropylene (PP) and alumina as well as PP and zinc sulfide allows a significant increase of the refractive index while simultaneously keeping a low extinction and dispersion. With these new material combinations, lenses with an increased focusing capability are realized.

Irinotecan is a major anticancer agent specifically targeting DNA topoisomerase I. Its cytotoxicity is mediated via a two-step process involving accumulation of reversible DNA‑topoisomerase I complexes associated with transient DNA single-strand breaks which subsequently are converted into permanent DNA double-strand breaks by the replication fork during S phase. Irinotecan may be selectively active for treatment of colorectal cancers that show microsatellite instability (MSI) due to deficiencies in mismatch repair enzymes, compared to tumors that are microsatellite stable but show chromosome instability (CIN).

The photo-Dember effect is a source of impulsive THz emission following femtosecond pulsed optical excitation. This emission results from the ultrafast spatial separation of electron-hole pairs in strong carrier gradients due to their different diffusion coefficients. We use projection screens filled with colloidal dispersions to reduce laser speckle in laser projection systems. Laser light is multiply scattered at the globules of the colloidal dispersion's internal phase, which do Brownian movement. The integration time of the human eye causes a perception of a reduced laser speckle contrast because of temporal averaging.

We use a pulsed, frequency tripled picosecond Nd:YAG laser for holographic ablation to pattern a surface relief grating into an organic semiconductor guest-host system. The resulting second order distributed feedback lasers exhibit laser action with laser thresholds being comparable to those obtained with resonators structured by standard lithographic techniques. The details of the interference ablation of tris-(8-hydroxyquinoline) aluminum (Alq(3)) doped with the laser dye 4- dicyanomethylene-2-methyl-6-(p-dimethylaminostyryl)-4H-pyran (DCM) are presented and discussed.
