Vascular endothelial growth factor antagonist reduces the early onset and the severity of ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome.

Background: Ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS) is the most serious complication of controlled ovarian stimulation (COH) during assisted reproductive technology (ART) protocols. This syndrome is a result of ovarian expression of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), which increases vascular permeability.

Objectives: To evaluate the efficiency of prophylactic and therapeutic use of cabergoline in women with higher risk of developing OHSS.

[Embryo vitrification: First Tunisian live birth following embryo vitrification and literature review].

Embryo cryopreservation is an essential tool in assisted reproduction. The option to freeze gametes and embryos provides unique possibilities for patients with various indications. After a review on some of the technical details of embryo freezing the idea of vitrification compared to slow freezing is discussed.

Pregnancy in kidney transplanted women: what are the optimal conditions for a better pregnancy outcome?

Background: Motherhood has long been not recommended for kidney transplanted women for fear of adverse effects on the graft and the risks to the fetus.

Aims: This article aimed to provide evidence based answer to the following questions regarding pregnancy in kidney transplanted women: 1. what are the nephrologic and obstetrical parameters that can influence the pregnancy outcome? 2.

Testis development in the absence of SRY: chromosomal rearrangements at SOX9 and SOX3.

Duplications in the ~2 Mb desert region upstream of SOX9 at 17q24.3 may result in familial 46,XX disorders of sex development (DSD) without any effects on the XY background. A balanced translocation with its breakpoint falling within the same region has also been described in one XX DSD subject.

Introduction: Severe gravidic toxemia gives heavy maternal and fetal morbidity and mortality.

Objectives: The purpose of our data is to identify bad maternal and fetal factors during severe toxemia and the outcome of pregnancy.

Methods: It is a retrospective and comparative study about 200 cases of severe toxemia reported during 8 years 2004-2011 among 25,000 deliveries (control group).

[Lower urinary trauma complicating gyneacologic and obstetrical surgery].

Introduction: The trauma of the lower urinary tract in gynecologic and obstetrics surgery is rare.

Aim: Discover the circonstances of their happening, their symptoms, and their methods of diagnostic and their treatment.

[Cerebral venous thrombosis during pregnancy: about 7 cases].

Background: cerebral venous thrombophlebitis (CVT) is a rare but serious pathology. The pregnancy and especially the postpartum constitute supporting circumstances occured of the CVT.

Aim: the aim of our study is to remember the symptomatology of CVT, the importance of the IRM and the angio IRM in the diagnosis of CVT, and its treatment.

[Cesarean deliveries in the maternity of military hospital of Tunis. Indication and prognosis: about 5008 cases].

Background: The rates of cesareans increased in many countries, these last years.

Aim: we propose to evaluate the indications, and the maternal and foetal prognosis.

Methods: it's a retrospective study of 5008 cesareans during 10 years period, collected in the maternity of the military hospital of Tunis.

[Premature ovarian insufficiency. Analysis of 30 cases].

Premature menopause is a relatively rare disease but it has delicate consequences dominated by infertility problems. Most often, etiologic investigation is disappointing. Helped in some cases by the association to some auto-immune diseases or a previous treatment with chemotherapy or an irradiation may be useful to understand the origin of the premature ovarian failure.

[The approach diagnoses of ovarian tumors by echography].

In more of positive diagnosis, echography makes it possible to approach the histological nature of ovarian tumors. From a series of 106 cases of ovarian tumours, we propose to evaluate this approach by analysing the various echographic signs according to histological types'. The serous cysts are anechogen in 77,7% of the cases.

[Intra-uterine growth retardation: etiologic factors and management].

Objective: The aim of this study is to define the etiologic factors, the diagnostic proceduresand obstetrical rules to be observed during a pregnancy in relation with low birth weight.

Patients And Methods: This is a retrospective study of 124 cases, carried out at the military hospital of Tunis, between January 1st 1999 and December 31 st 2001.

Results: The frequency of intra-uterine growth retardation (IVGR) was 2.

[Endometrectomy. Analytical study of 20 cases].

Aims: Through a retrospective study of 20 cases of endometrial removal colleted over a period of 4 years, the authors try to determine the indications of this therapeutic method, its efficiency, its advantages as well as its contra indications.

Results: Average age of the patients was 44 years.

[Maternal and foetal prognostic during severe toxemia].

It's a retrospective study about 100 cases of severe and complicated gravidic toxemia repertorieted in the maternity of Military Hospital of Tunis.

[Surgical laparoscopy in the management of women infertility].

The authors report their experience about surgical laparoscopy in the management of women infertility. Based on a series of 87 patients (median age: 31 years), 61% have primary infertility. The surgical procedures were distal tuboplasty in 26 cases, endometriosis cure in 19 cases, ovarian driling for polycystic ovarian syndrome in 18 cases and adhesiolysis in 24 cases.

[Potter's reno-facial syndrome].

Potter's reno-facial syndrome is a rare innate abnormality. We bring 4 observations repertoried at the maternity of military hospital of Tunis over a period of 6 years (1997 - 2002). The purpose of our work is to determine after a review of the literature the echographic and foetopathologic characteristics, and the forecast of this syndrome.

[Urinary incontinence with effort: surgical management in the maternity ward of a Tunisian military hospital (91 case reports)].

We bring back a retrospective study on the surgical treatment of the incontinence in the effort about 91 cases. Our objective is to estimate the results of our surgical techniques. Three procedures were used: plicatures under urethrales; intervention of bologna; intervention of Burch.

[Umbilical endometriosis: apropos of 3 cases].

Umbilical endometriosis is a rare localisation of the disease. The authors report three cases of umbilical endometriosis. The symptomatology is not usually typic.

[Role of uterine curettage in endometrial pathology. Report of 200 cases].

Unlabelled: The aim of this study is to evaluate the reliability of the uterine curettage in endometrial pathology. It is a retrospective analysis of 200 uterine curettages carried out in the military hospital of Tunis over 4 years (1994-1998). The reasons of consultation were genital hemorrhage, sterility and amenorrhea.

[Management of urogenital prolapse in the maternity service of the Tunis military hospital. 82 cases].

This survey has for goal to specify the epidemiological and of the prolapse of our patient, as well as our therapeutic attitude. It is about a retrospective survey that concerned 82 cases of prolapse, structural on a period of 5 years. The average of age of our patient is of 59 years.

[Management of uterine fibromas. Report of 219 cases].

This study is about 219 uterine fibroma treated surgically between 1994 and 1998. The surgical operation represent 19.1% of the gynecological interventions.
