Relationship of psoriatic arthritis with nail and scalp involvement in Turkish psoriasis patients: Multicentered cross-sectional study.

Psoriasis is a common multisystem inflammatory disease, and arthritis is an essential component of the disorder, requiring early diagnosis and prompt treatment for successful management. In this study, we aimed to investigate the relationship between nail and scalp involvement and other covariates with psoriatic arthritis (PsA). This cross-sectional study, conducted from June 2021 through December 2021, included 763 patients from 11 different centers in Turkey.

Evaluation of the Factors Influencing Mortality in Patients with Stevens-Johnson Syndrome and Toxic Epidermal Necrolysis: A Multicenter Study of 166 Patients.

Introduction: Stevens-Johnson syndrome (SJS) and toxic epidermal necrolysis (TEN) are life-threatening acute mucocutaneous disorders usually triggered by drugs. In this study, we aimed to evaluate the factors affecting mortality in patients with SJS-TEN.

Methods: Our study is a retrospective cohort study, analyzing data collected from a total of 12 tertiary care centers between April 2012 and April 2022.

Reducing Risk for Acute Kidney Injury After Living Donor Hepatectomy by Protocolized Fluid Restriction: Single-Center Experience.

Background: Acute kidney injury (AKI) is a potential complication after restricted fluid therapy for major surgery. The aim of this study was to evaluate the incidence of AKI for living liver donor hepatectomy in which applied intraoperative protocolized fluid restriction was used targeting a low central venous pressure (CVP) level with high pulse pressure variation (PPV) and systolic pressure variation (SPV).

The Effect of Single-Dose Intraperitoneal Bevacizumab on Peritoneal Adhesion Formation.

Background: Intra-abdominal adhesions and their complications following abdominal surgery are serious problems, with an incidence of 67-93%. Prevention of peritoneal adhesion formation may eliminate the need for surgical intervention, decreasing complications, morbidity, and cost. Bevacizumab is a recombinant monoclonal antibody which specifically binds vascular endothelial growth factor, an important cytokine in adhesion formation, and neutralizes its biological activity.

Epidemiology of Pemphigus in Turkey: One-year Prospective Study of 220 Cases.

Pemphigus is a group of rare and life-threatening autoimmune blistering diseases of the skin and mucous membranes. Although they occur worldwide, their incidence shows wide geographical variation, and prospective data on the epidemiology of pemphigus are very limited. Objective of this work is to evaluate the incidence and epidemiological and clinical features of patients with pemphigus in Turkey.

The effect of personal, familial, and environmental characteristics on acne vulgaris: a prospective, multicenter, case controlled study.

Background: There are only a few studies about epidemiological features of acne vulgaris in the literature. The aim of this study was to analyze demographic, clinical, familial and environmental characteristics of acne, the role of diet and aggravating factors and association of these factors with acne severity.

Methods: Patients with a diagnosis of mild-moderate to severe acne were consecutively interviewed at the participating centers during the study period.

The efficacy of narrowband UVB treatment in pediatric vitiligo: a retrospective analysis of 26 cases.

Background/aim: Narrowband UVB (Nb UVB) treatment is commonly used for the management of psoriasis and atopic dermatitis, and is less often used for vitiligo in children. The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy and short-term safety of Nb UVB phototherapy in children diagnosed with vitiligo retrospectively.

Materials And Methods: A total of 26 patients younger than 18 years with the diagnosis of vitiligo and managed with Nb UVB phototherapy as documented in archive records were evaluated.

[Cutaneous larva migrans: report of three cases from the Western Black Sea Region, Turkey].

Cutaneous larva migrans (CLM) is a parasitosis frequently seen in persons who have travelled to tropical or subtropical regions and in those who have worked in contact with soil. The disease frequently develops due to Ancylostoma braziliensis and Ancylostoma caninum species. After penetrating the skin and entering the body, the hookworm larva proceeds to bore tunnels through the epidermis, creating pruritic, erythematous, serpiginous lesions.

Quality of life, depression and musculoskeletal pain experience among employed women: A controlled study.

Objective: The musculoskeletal pain is one of the leading health problems among employed women. The aim of our study was to examine musculoskeletal pain, depression and quality of life (QOL) among employed women and find out the differences with unemployed women.

Objective: There is an increase in the incidence of cancer, and consequently in mortality rates, both in the world and in Turkey. The increase in the incidence and mortality rate of cancer are more prominent in our country as well as in other developing countries. The aim of this workshop was to determine the current status on prevention, screening, early diagnosis and treatment of cancer in our country, to identify related shortcomings, specify solutions and to share these with health system operators, and to aid in implementation of these systems.

Rosacea and exposure to tandoor heat: Is there an association?

Background: Particularly in eastern and southeastern regions of Turkey, women use tandoor ovens to bake bread and as a result are exposed to excessive heat. Exposure to heat for long periods may lead to the initiation or exacerbation of rosacea.

Objectives: The aim of this study was to investigate whether there is a relationship between exposure to heat from a tandoor and rosacea.

Effects of phase I complex decongestive physiotherapy on physical functions and depression levels in breast cancer related lymph edema.

[Purpose] Breast cancer-related upper extremity lymph edema is known to cause physical, functional and psychological impairments in women after modified radical mastectomy. The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of phase I Complex Decongestive Physiotherapy (CDP) on physical functions and depression levels in women with breast cancer-related upper extremity lymph edema. [Subjects and Methods] Fifty-eight subjects with breast cancer-related upper extremity lymph edema were the subjects of this study.

Multiple warty dyskeratomas: case report.

Warty dyskeratoma is a rare tumor that presents mainly as an isolated papule or nodule on the scalp, face or neck in the adults. Warty dyskeratoma frequently arises as a single lesion with a central keratotic plug on the skin of middle-aged or elderly people. Multiple warty dyskeratomas are very rare cutaneous lesions which are mostly seen on the scalp.

A case of mycosis fungoides-like lesions developing after levetiracetam therapy.

Levetiracetam is a relatively new antiepileptic drug that has previously not been associated with severe dermatological side effects. We report the case of a 31-year-old male treated with levetiracetam for seizures who subsequently developed a mycosis fungoides-like drug reaction that resolved upon dosage reduction.

Breast cancer subtypes can be a predictor of pathologic complete response and survival in the neoadjuvant setting for T4 noninflammatory breast cancer.

Background: The aim of this study is to identify whether the breast cancer subtypes are predictors of pathologic complete response (pCR) to neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) and survival in patients with T4 noninflammatory breast cancer.

Methods: The records of 181 patients treated with anthracycline +/- taxane based NAC followed by mastectomy and radiation therapy +/- hormonotherapy were evaluated. The role of intrinsic subtypes of the tumor including luminal A, luminal B, HER2, and triple-negative on pCR and survival were analyzed.

Baboon syndrome induced by ketoconazole.

A 27-year-old male patient presented with a maculopapular eruption on the flexural areas and buttocks after using oral ketoconazole. The patient was diagnosed with drug-induced baboon syndrome based on his history, which included prior sensitivity to topical ketoconazole, a physical examination, and histopathological findings. Baboon syndrome is a drug- or contact allergen-related maculopapular eruption that typically involves the flexural and gluteal areas.

Pustular irritant contact dermatitis caused by dexpanthenol in a child.

Pustular irritant contact dermatitis is rare and unusual clinic form of contact dermatitis. Dexpanthenol is the stable alcoholic analogue of pantothenic acid. It is widely used in cosmetics and topical medical products for several purposes.
