Predictors and impact of trust on vaccine decisions in parents of 2-year-old children in Canada: findings from the 2017 Childhood National Immunization Coverage Survey (cNICS).

Trust is known to be an important factor in vaccine decisions for parents of young children, but there has been a lack of Canadian data measuring the determinants and impact of trust. Using data from the 2017 Canadian Childhood National Immunization Coverage Survey (cNICS), this study analyzed the relationships between sources that parents trust for vaccine information and demographics, parental knowledge, attitudes, and beliefs (KAB) and vaccine decisions (refusal, delay or reluctance) in parents of 2-year-old children who had accepted at least one vaccine for their child (n = 6125). The findings show that 83% of parents trust doctors for vaccine information; 70-80% trust pharmacists, PMH, nurses and HC/PHAC; 34% trust family and 23% trust friends and CAM HCPs.

Atherogenic index of plasma, lipid accumulation and visceral adiposity in metabolic syndrome patients.

Metabolic syndrome is a cluster of various clinical and biochemical abnormalities, needs early diagnosis and treatment to reduce morbidity and mortality. The present study is designed to compare Atherogenic Index of Plasma, Lipid Accumulation Product and Visceral Adiposity Index with metabolic syndrome components in patients with metabolic syndrome. The study comprises of 150 metabolic syndrome patients and 150 age and sex matched healthy controls of both genders in the age group of 20 - 65 years.

Assessment of Posterior Pharyngeal Airway Changes After Orthognathic Surgery Using Barium Sulfate.

Introduction:  Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), caused by airway narrowing, is likely to occur if the mandibular plane to hyoid distance is greater than 15.4 mm and the posterior airway space (PAS) is less than 11 mm. OSA may be caused by mandibular deficit, bimaxillary retrusion, increased lower facial height, extended soft palate, a large tongue base, and a posteroinferiorly positioned hyoid bone.

Evaluation of the relationship between dermatoglyphics and mandibular third molar impaction: A cross-sectional study.

Dermatoglyphics can be utilised in clinical settings to identify those who are more likely to have impacted teeth. Additionally, dermatoglyphics looks to have potential as a non-invasive diagnostic method for predicting the presence or absence of an impacted tooth. The goal of this study was to look at the most common dermatoglyphic pattern in people who had or didn't have an impacted mandibular third molar teeth and see if there was a dermatoglyphic signature.

Impact of COVID-19 on heart failure hospitalization and outcome in India - A cardiological society of India study (CSI-HF in COVID 19 times study - "The COVID C-HF study").

Objectives: The presentation and outcomes of acute decompensated heart failure (ADHF) during COVID times (June 2020 to Dec 2020) were compared with the historical control during the same period in 2019.

Methods: Data of 4806 consecutive patients of acute HF admitted in 22 centres in the country were collected during this period. The admission patterns, aetiology, outcomes, prescription of guideline-directed medical therapy (GDMT) and interventions were analysed in this retrospective study.

An Unusual Presentation of Extramedullary Plasmacytoma in the Orbit in a Middle-Aged Woman.

Orbital location for an extramedullary plasmacytoma is very rare. We report a case of 48 years old woman with swelling in the upper medial aspect of Right eye for 1 year. Histopathological evaluation was consistent with Plasmacytoma and IHC was strongly positive for CD 138.

Introduction: Episiotomy, the deliberate surgical incision on the vaginal orifice during vaginal delivery, requires prompt repairing of the incised tissue. It may be associated with bleeding, infection, dehiscence, dyspareunia, short-term pain, and prolonged hospital stay. The outcome of surgery depends on the suture material and technique to repair the episiotomy.

Background: Bacteria in nature live together in communities called biofilms, where they produce a matrix that protects them from hostile environments. The components of this matrix vary among species, with Salmonella enterica serovar Typhimurium (STm- WT) primarily producing curli and cellulose, which are regulated by the master regulator csgD. Interactions between bacteria can be competitive or cooperative, with cooperation more commonly observed among the kin population.

Assessment of Prevalent Gingival Shades in the South Indian Population: An Observational Study.

Introduction: Gingival shade matching, often overlooked, plays an integral role in designing prostheses for patients with high smile lines, gingival defects, and cases where the acrylic flange of removable dentures extends into the aesthetic zone. The purpose of this study was to find the most prevalent gingival shade in a sample of the South Indian population.

Stem Cell Therapy in Critical Limb Ischemia.

Critical limb ischemia (CLI), a serious outcome of peripheral artery disease, is frequently associated with morbid outcomes. The available treatment modalities do not provide satisfactory results, leading to marked morbidities such as joint contracture and amputations, resulting in a high economic burden. The peripheral vascular disease tends to cause more morbidity in patients with diabetes and atherosclerosis, given the pre-existing compromised perfusion of medium and small vessels in diabetic patients.

Site-selective post-modification of short α/γ hybrid foldamers: a powerful approach for molecular diversification towards biomedical applications.

The extensive research work in the exhilarating area of foldamers (artificial oligomers possessing well-defined conformation in solution) has shown them to be promising candidates in biomedical research and materials science. The post-modification approach is successful in peptides, proteins, and polymers to modulate their functions. To the best of our knowledge, site-selective post-modification of a foldamer affording molecules with different pendant functional groups within a molecular scaffold has not yet been reported.

Smart City IoT System Network Level Routing Analysis and Blockchain Security Based Implementation.

This paper demonstrates, network-level performance analysis and implementation of smart city Internet of Things (IoT) system with Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) level cloud computing architecture. The smart city IoT network topology performance is analyzed at the simulation level using the NS3 simulator by extracting most of the performance-deciding parameters. The performance-enhanced smart city topology is practically implemented in IaaS level architecture.

Advances in Diagnostic Approaches and Therapeutic Management in Bovine Mastitis.

Mastitis causes huge economic losses to dairy farmers worldwide, which largely negatively affects the quality and quantity of milk. Mastitis decreases overall milk production, degrades milk quality, increases milk losses because of milk being discarded, and increases overall production costs due to higher treatment and labour costs and premature culling. This review article discusses mastitis with respect to its clinical epidemiology, the pathogens involved, economic losses, and basic and advanced diagnostic tools that have been used in recent times to diagnose mastitis effectively.

In this study, we conducted a bibliometric analysis using the Scopus database to identify dental caries research trends and patterns over the years.

Determinants of Medication Non-Adherence Among the Elderly with Co-Existing Hypertension and Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus in Rural Areas of Udupi District in Karnataka, India.

Purpose: Medication adherence is a crucial component in the management of elderly with co-morbid chronic conditions. Hence, this study aimed to investigate the determinants of medication non-adherence among rural elderly with co-morbid chronic conditions of hypertension (HTN) and type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) in India.

Patients And Methods: This cross-sectional study adopted the probability proportional to size (PPS) sampling technique to find the determinants of medication non-adherence among elderly residing in rural coverage areas of five randomly selected primary health centres (PHC) in Udupi district, Karnataka, India.

Transsplenic tract closure after transsplenic portalvenous access using gelfoam-based tract plugging.

Background: To assess the feasibility and safety of a gelfoam torpedo plugging technique for embolization of the transsplenic access channel in adult patients following transvenous portal vein interventions.

Materials And Methods: Between 09/2016 and 08/2021, an ultrasound guided transsplenic portalvenous access (TSPVA) was established in twenty-four adult patients with a 21-G needle and 4-F microsheath under ultrasound guidance. Afterwards, sheaths ranging from 4-F to 8-F were inserted as needed for the procedure.

Superior Mesenteric Artery (SMA) Syndrome With Enterocutaneous Fistula in a Young Woman: A Rare Association.

Superior mesenteric artery (SMA) syndrome is also known as Wilkie's syndrome. Sometimes it is the cause of obstruction in the duodenum. Detection of spatiotemporal patterns of rainfall trends, using non-parametric statistical techniques, in Karnataka state, India.

The unpredictability of the climate has drawn a lot of interest worldwide, especially that of the annual mean temperatures and rainfall. In this study, non-parametric tests such as the LOWESS curve method, Mann-Kendall (MK), SNHT test, Pettitt's test (PT), and Buishand range test (BRT) were used to evaluate long-term (2000-2020) rainfall data series to examine rainfall variability. The Dakshina Kannada district has the highest average rainfall is 3495.

AIIMS ICU Rehabilitation (AIR): development and description of intervention for home rehabilitation of chronically ill tracheostomized patients.

Background: The paucity of state-supported rehabilitation for chronically ill patients with long-term tracheostomies has ramifications of prolonged hospital-stay, increased burden on acute-care resources, and nosocomial infections. Few interventions describe home rehabilitation of adult tracheostomized patients. Almost none involve stakeholders.
