[Current view on Blastocystis species: clinical forms, diagnosis and treatment].

The symptomatic form of Blastocystis spp. infection not only with mild diarrhea or dysentery-like syndrome, but also with the development of severe ulcerative necrotic lesions of the intestine. Meanwhile, the pathogenicity of these microorganisms should not be exaggerated, due to majority asymptomatic cases or infection transmission with minor impaired bowel function.

Opportunistic diseases in patients with HIV infection in the intensive care unit.

Aim: The aim of the study was to analyze the incidence and prevalence of opportunistic diseases and comorbidities in patients admitted in the intensive care unit.

Materials And Methods: A specialized intensive care unit (ICU) for patients with severe HIV infection was set up in 2014 at the infectious diseases 2nd state hospital Moscow. It provides intensive care and treatments for HIV patients with severe co-morbidities and opportunistic infections.

[Study of the intra-cultivar variability of grape DNA using RFLP and PCR methods].

Evaluation of DNA polymorphism among Vitis vinifera varieties using RFLP and PCR methods has been performed to choose a DNA technology for detection of grape intracultivar variation. DNA polymorphism of clones of the varieties Riparia Gluar, Riparia x Rupestris 101-14, Cabernet Sauvignon, Riestling reinskiy has been studied using Southern hybridization and amplification techniques. It has been shown that grape intracultivar variability of rDNA in Riparia x Rupestris 101-14 and Cabernet Sauvignon clones was caused by the modification in Alul restriction sites of rDNA.

[Detection of anti-Leptospira antibodies in sera of patients in the latex agglutination test].

The results of the preliminary evaluation of the sensitivity and specificity of the newly developed diagnostic test based on the determination of genus-specific antibodies to leptospires in the latex agglutination test, are presented. This test makes it possible to detect anti-Leptospira antibodies of any serogroup. The advantages of the developed test have been determined.

[The left atrial-femoral bypass in operations on the descending aorta].

Fifteen patients were operated on for aortic aneurysms and were fitted with prostheses of the thoracoabdominal portion of the aorta in March 1997-February 1999. The operations were performed under conditions of a left atrial-femoral bypass with a centrifuge pump with a working heart. The patients were divided into 2 groups.

[First clinical test of the use of artificial blood circulation with auto-oxygenation].

Thirteen operations for ischemic heart disease were performed in the All-Union Surgery Centre of the AMS USSR using the method of simultaneous left and right heart bypass with oxygenation of the blood in the patient's lungs. This method was found to provide for a better gas exchange in artificial lung ventilation (ALV) with 30 per cent oxygen in the inhaled mixture, and for the reduction in the perfusion blood damage. The biventricular bypass is more complicated technically than the conventional artificial circulation (AC), but it is believed to be more physiological and cost-effective, which allows for considering it an alternative in aortocoronary bypass surgery.
